A remarkable 250 senior students from Port St. Lucie High School recently embarked on an enriching field trip to Indian River State College (IRSC), immersing themselves in the vibrant campus environment. In anticipation of “Celebrate Literacy Week” starting January 27th, Mosaic Digital Academy K-5 students visited their local public library to explore the plethora of free resources available to them. The Paula A. We proudly congratulate Janiel Figueroa for being chosen to perform for the Florida All-State High School Honor. The Ensemble, a rare opportunity that only a select few, including Janiel, get to experience, consisted of nearly a hundred performers statewide. Janiel has achieved one of the highest individual honors for Florida high school musicians by earning a place in the All-State Bands. In Mrs. Enoch’s and Pank’s Writing and Science Lab, students enthusiastically participated in the interactive game “Eat or Be Eaten.” This engaging educational tool allowed them to actively construct food chains, providing a hands-on learning experience. Through the game, students explored the intricate relationships within ecosystems, gaining a deeper understanding of the roles of various organisms. They learned about producers, which are typically plants that create their own food through photosynthesis. They also identified primary consumers, such as herbivores that eat the producers, and secondary consumers, which are carnivores or omnivores that prey on primary consumers. Shark Chefs from Ms. Tremblay’s Culinary Class completed their Entrepreneurship Unit! Students were thrilled to create their vision for a Food Truck. On the final day before class presentations, Teppan Nyoko, one of SLWK8’s Business Partners came to teach and support our students. Mrs. Boham’s SLWK8 STEAM SHARKS added a touch of mint to sweeten the end of their semester and year.  Previously, students designed candy bars and then voted to pick the favorite from each class, then an overall favorite for all classes. The winning bar was “Snowy Days” which was created by 7th graders.  Students layered in the fun when they proved themselves as chocolatiers and made a batch of the bars for themselves. While not ready to go into full production, the candy bar was a yummy treat to enjoy before winter break. Students truly enjoyed and loved their delicious designs!

The 1st Grade Holiday Performance was truly a show-stopper! Each little star shone brightly, sharing their joy and creativity with us all. Their hard work and enthusiasm made every moment so special. A heartfelt thank you to our talented young performers, families, and the wonderful teachers who helped bring this magical event to life. Dr. Reynolds, Village Green’s music teacher, truly outdid herself with this year’s “Gnome for the Holidays” program. VGESS 4th graders were included as special guest narrators for the show. Our village knows how to put on a performance and we can’t wait for the next show!

Mr. Tygesson’s 8th-grade Advanced Science students demonstrate their knowledge of the composition of a star by utilizing their artistic ability to create a model of the Sun. In this activity, students worked collaboratively in groups to create a model of the Sun’s interior layers (core, radiative zone, and convection zone), atmosphere (photosphere, chromosphere, and corona), and solar activity (prominences, solar flares, and sunspots) and implemented the properties of all layers into their model. Standard: SC.8.E.5.6 Create models of solar properties including: rotation, structure of the Sun, convection, sunspots, solar flares, and prominences.

Southport Middle School is overflowing with gratitude for our amazing bus drivers!  On Thursday, when the temperatures were in the 40s, the bus drivers of Southport Middle School were greeted with a cup of hot cocoa and a special note to keep them warm.  The note read, “A special thank you from us, because you do so much on the bus.  Wrap your taste buds around this cozy hot cocoa-it’s like a warm hug in a mug.”   Southport Middle School staff is extremely thankful for all the work our bus drivers put in each and every day.  Huge shout out … Read More

What an epic day at Village Green Environmental Studies School! A whopping 222 students with perfect attendance during the month of December turned into wall-hanging artists as they taped our amazing Assistant Principal, Mrs. Drost, and Principal, Mrs. Boria to the wall in the cafeteria for everyone to see. Central’s Key Club continued their holiday tradition of participating in Fort Pierce’s annual Sights and Sounds Parade. Taking place in historic and scenic downtown Fort Pierce, the FPC Key Club had 244 members walk in the parade. Along with wearing their festival Santa hats, Key Club members carried and waved giant Crayola Crayons in honor of the theme of the parade Color Me Christmas. FPC has the largest and most active Key Club in the State of Florida with 335 members who have amassed more than 2,300 volunteer hours, serving and supporting needs in the community. Last month, Manatee Academy K-8 held their annual Cookies for Santa Event. This festive gathering has become a cherished highlight for families, offering a variety of activities that captured the magic of the season. Children enjoyed making reindeer treats and decorating sparkling snowflakes, unleashing their creativity in the craft stations set up throughout the event. Some of our sweet Village Green Manatees were able to participate in this year’s Winter Celebration at the Rotary Club of Port St. Lucie. This annual Christmas party helps alleviate some of the holiday stress for families in our community and we are very grateful to be able to give some of our students the opportunity to participate. On January 6th, SLW Centennial High School held its second annual Student Recovery Day. This is a heartfelt initiative aimed at reconnecting with students who had chronic absences and low GPAs during the first semester. Teachers, counselors, and staff members split into teams to visit approximately 65 families, reaching out to students who had been struggling with attendance and academic performance.
