From February 13th to the 18th, 25 of our most dedicated students faced the formidable challenges of the Junior Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) 2026. Our math lesson was as sweet as it gets! Students dove into the world of equivalent fractions using a full-size Hershey’s bar, turning a tricky concept into an unforgettable, hands-on adventure. As they snapped the chocolate into equal pieces, they could see fractions come to life—discovering cool connections like how 1/2 is the same as 6/12 when the bar is divided into twelve parts. Congratulations to the SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Drill Competition Team! They competed in the Lake Howell “Silverhawk Showdown” Drill Competition in Winter Park, Florida on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 against multiple other NJROTC units from all over Central Florida. Last week, Fairlawn Elementary’s fourth-graders traded their desks and textbooks for hiking trails and discovery as they visited the Oxbow Eco-Center.
