Lincoln Park Academy’s Key Club kicked off the school year with an impressive first meeting, welcoming more than 100 student members. Students were introduced to club officers, reviewed membership expectations, and learned about upcoming service projects and volunteer opportunities for the year ahead. Southport Middle School STEM students recently took on the role of engineers as they explored the principles of structural engineering through a hands-on bridge design challenge. Students investigated how forces affect structures and learned what makes a design both strong and stable. During the activity, classes were tasked with solving a real-world problem: constructing a bridge capable of spanning a nine-inch gap between two tables while supporting increasingly heavy weights. On August 6, 2026, the SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company’s Top Staff members participated in SLW Centennial High School’s Open House. They set up an information table to introduce students and families to the NJROTC program. The table included flyers and information about the Naval Science Course and class, after-school activities, and opportunities available through the program. Mrs. Pease’s 6th Grade Science students at Lincoln Park Academy recently put their scientific thinking to the test during the exciting Drops on a Penny Lab. Students applied each step of the scientific method by asking questions, conducting research, making predictions, collecting data, and analyzing results to determine how many drops of water a penny could hold before overflowing. Through this hands-on investigation, students explored the unique properties of water, including surface tension, while practicing careful observation, accurate measurement, and data collection.   Morning Checkout has quickly become one of the most popular and exciting opportunities for our students. Every Tuesday and Wednesday morning, students eagerly visit the media center before class as part of their morning checkout routine. Their enthusiasm is contagious, with many students bursting with excitement as they explore the shelves in search of new books to enjoy.
