FREE Heart Screenings for Students

St. Lucie Public Schools is proud to partner with the Florida Department of Health and the Jessica Clinton MVP Foundation to promote a Free Heart Screening event on Saturday, November 8th, from 8am-4:30pm. Jessica Clinton, a young cheerleader in St. Lucie County, died tragically at the age of 17, partly because of an undiagnosed heart condition. The foundation created in her honor believes such tragedies can be prevented by promoting early heart screenings and providing public education and awareness of hidden heart conditions. Don’t wait. SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Wins Do-You-Give-A-Ruck

Congratulations to the SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC Black Talon Company!  On Saturday, September 27th, 2025, the area High School JROTC teams from the Treasure Coast went head to head to win this year’s title of The Do-You-Give-A-Ruck Freedom Festival and Memorial Ruck March Cadet Competition. Each team was charged with completing a 3.43 Mile Ruck (or backpack March) at an average of 15.00 minute mile pace, carrying an average load of 25-35 lbs each. The SLW Centennial HS Navy JROTC honored the souls that were lost during the Patriot Day Ceremony on September 11, 2025.  The Ceremony was conducted at 8:00am at which time the company was brought to attention and the Company Commanding Officer, c/LCDR Brittany Burke.  She had the company “Present Arms” (salute) as the Ensign (United States Flag) was raised by the Flag Detail. Centennial Peer Navigators Coach Freshman Seminar Classes

During a freshman seminar class, the Student Peer Navigators led an engaging activity using the “Rock, Pebbles, and Sand” metaphor to help new students understand the importance of prioritizing their time and responsibilities. In this activity, the “rocks” represented the most important commitments—like family, health, and academics. The “pebbles” stood for secondary priorities such as extracurriculars or part-time jobs, while the “sand” symbolized the small, everyday distractions. SLW Centennial High School students and staff came together to celebrate a vibrant and memorable Homecoming Week from September 22 through September 27. SPMS Hosts Their First PBIS Event of the Year

Southport Middle School held its first PBIS event on Friday to reward students with no referrals for the past few weeks. Eligible students were able to choose from a variety of fun activities, including board games, arts and crafts, a movie room, gym free time, outdoor play, and tech games. 5th Grade PBIS Kickball Fun at CAST

CAST fifth-grade teachers and students “kicked” off our September PBIS events with a kickball game. Fort Pierce Westwood Veterinary Assisting CTE Update

Our students have been off to a busy start this year. Local veterinarians Dr. Adams and Dr. Smith from Midway Veterinary Hospital visited to perform annual exams on our classroom cats, giving students hands-on experience with physical exams. We also kicked off our Panther Paws Friday Pup Spa Days, where staff bring their dogs for baths, grooming, and playtime.
