TCHS ROTC Cadets to Participate in the 2025 JROTC Flight Academy Program

Treasure Coast High School Jr. Reserved Officers Training Corps Cadets were selected to participate in the 2025 Sumer Flight Academy program. Cadets Nora Brant, Micheal Brant, and Juan Paez-Aguirre will represent Treasure Coast High School in the 2025 Summer Flight Academy program. This program is an 8-week program where cadets learn the flight principles and learn how to fly one-on-one with instructors. Upon successful completion, cadets may be eligible for their Private Pilot’s License. We are thrilled to announce that TCHS senior Zoe S. received a full scholarship through the Questbridge Scholarship program to attend Colby College in Maine. The Questbridge Scholarship program is an intensive process that begins in the student’s junior year and requires three levels of applications and elimination rounds. Zoe will be majoring in Performance, Theater, and Dance, with a minor in Cinema Studies. C. A. Moore Elementary’s 5th and 6th grade students were sworn into Safety Patrol by our School Resource Officer, Officer Goz. Students had to complete an application and receive recommendations from their teachers in order to be a part of the Safety Patrol. Northport K-8 Students Generate Electricity From Water

Sixth grade students in Mr. Fess’ Northstars STEM class designed and built water turbines as part of their unit on Hydropower. These students are studying various types of alternative energy sources in this course while also learning about the Engineering, Science, and Math necessary to harness the energy. Students chose to design and build using 3D modeling software or with physical materials to generate real electricity using running water. Each project, virtual or physical, contains water wheels acting as a turbine and a generator. Students who made physical models then used multimeters to measure the electricity being generated. Ms. Cole’s 4th graders at Village Green Environmental Studies School had some classroom fun comparing and contrasting life cycles of Florida plants and animals, such as those that undergo incomplete and complete metamorphosis, and flowering and nonflowering seed-bearing plants. Students were using their notes, science books, and charts to create Venn diagrams out of hula hoops of incomplete and complete metamorphosis of two insects.  They had to create 3-dimensional models of each stage and write the name of the stage and what occurs during that stage of the life cycle. On Thursday afternoon, SLW Centennial High School welcomed representatives from St. Lucie County Upward Bound. The event was held during all lunches. A large number of students attended eager to learn about the program. They learned about the benefits of joining St. Lucie County Upward Bound, including access to college prep workshops, academic support, and unique opportunities designed to help students succeed. The event was a success, leaving students inspired and motivated to pursue their academic and career goals with the support of Upward Bound. Five outstanding high school culinary arts students competed at the Sunshine Kitchen Cookoff in Fort Pierce. Each high school student was paired with an Indian River State Culinary Institute student to form a team for the event. Mosaic Digital Academy students in grades 5-8 enjoyed a cross-curricular field trip to the St. Lucie County Regional History Center and St. Lucie County Aquarium.
