The City of Port St. Lucie is inviting artists of all ages (professional or not) to participate in a public art initiative aimed at beautifying our streets, neighborhoods, and public spaces. This exciting project will transform plain metal utility boxes located
at traffic intersections into vibrant works of art, reflecting Florida’s natural beauty.
About the Project
Public art promotes a sense of community pride and ownership, while also helping create a distinctive neighborhood identity. The City Council’s vision is to bring art to unexpected places, and this project offers a unique opportunity for local artists to
contribute to enhancing the city’s visual appeal. New utility boxes will be installed, and existing wraps will be replaced with fresh designs.
What We’re Looking For
Artists are encouraged to submit artwork that celebrates Florida’s natural beauty, including but not limited to:
• Local flora and fauna
• Landscapes and natural environments
• Endangered species and conservation
• Unique neighborhood characteristics
However, there are no restrictions on the type of art, and all styles of artwork, whether drawings, paintings, or photographs—will be considered.
Artwork Submission Period: February 21, 2025 – April 7, 2025
Submission Guidelines
• Artists may submit only one piece of artwork. Multiple submissions will not be accepted unless the artist declares a single piece for consideration.
• The artwork must be submitted electronically as a high-resolution digital .jpg file with a landscape orientation.
• Include your name, contact information, and the title of your piece with your submission.
• If you are a minor, please include the name, relationship, and contact information of your guardian.
• Send submissions to: Bgrubbs@cityofpsl.com
Submissions will be reviewed by the City’s Public Art Advisory Board, which will make recommendations for final approval by the City Council. Artwork will be evaluated based on artistic quality, relevance to the theme, and printability.
While artists will not receive monetary compensation, they will be able to include their signature in a designated 16-inch by 16-inch space on the wrap. The City will have the right to use and duplicate the artwork for a period of seven years.
It’s easy to apply. To submit an image for consideration, artists shall submit their art electronically as a high-resolution digital .jpg file with landscape orientation to Bgrubbs@cityofpsl.com.
This is your chance to be part of a community effort that brings art to unexpected places and creates a lasting impact on our city’s identity. Don’t miss out—submit your artwork today!
Artists with questions are encouraged to contact the City’s Planning and Zoning Department at 772-871-5212 or email Bgrubbs@cityofpsl.com.
