EKG Requirement for Student-Athletes

EKGs are required for first-time high school student athletes in the 2026-27 school year.  Specifically, this requirement applies to students participating in high school athletics for the first time, including incoming 9th-grade student-athletes, and students in grades 10–12 who have not previously participated in an FHSAA-sanctioned sport. Students who have already participated in a high school sport are not required to obtain an EKG at this time; however, obtaining one is strongly recommended as a best practice for student health and safety. Project Citizen Visit at West Gate K-8

Congressman Brian Mast recently visited Ms. Estrella’s Civics students at West Gate K-8 to speak with them about their work addressing blue-green algae in the Indian River Lagoon. This issue is deeply important to the Congressman, who has worked at the federal level to regulate and reduce water releases from Lake Okeechobee. His firsthand knowledge and expertise provided valuable insight, helping students strengthen their project and continue advocating for clean water at the local level.

Legacy High School Shop With A Lion

Monday, December 1st, Legacy High School held their first annual Shop with a Lion. This past month, they have been raising money to purchase gifts for elementary students for Christmas. The Legacy Lion Ambassadors took 11 Oak Hammock students, grades 1 to 5, Christmas shopping at Target. After, they wrapped them so they would have plenty of gifts to open Christmas morning. To finish off the day, they had a pizza luncheon back at Oak Hammock.

FREE Heart Screenings for Students

St. Lucie Public Schools is proud to partner with the Florida Department of Health and the Jessica Clinton MVP Foundation to promote a Free Heart Screening event on Saturday, November 8th, from 8am-4:30pm. Jessica Clinton, a young cheerleader in St. Lucie County, died tragically at the age of 17, partly because of an undiagnosed heart condition. The foundation created in her honor believes such tragedies can be prevented by promoting early heart screenings and providing public education and awareness of hidden heart conditions. Don’t wait.
