SLPS Hosts HBCU/HSI College Fair

On January 25, 2024, SLPS held its annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) College Fair at the Fenn Center. This fair hosted representatives from the HBCU and HSI colleges who provided program, application, and scholarship information to prospective students which included SLPS current seniors and juniors. Dan McCarty Middle School also participated. This event was a wonderful opportunity for students and SLPS thanks all participating staff and universities for a great and informative event!

On Monday, January 15, 2024, St. Lucie Public Schools, along with SLPS Superintendent and Board Members, participated in Fort Pierce’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. The theme of this year was “Dream, Believe, Achieve” and was Grand Marshaled by Dr. Keven G. Perry and Dr. Christine Taylor. Schools honored Dr. King and his dreams of equality by creating floats that showcased his principles of racial equality and nonviolent social change. SLPS on Parade for the Holidays!

Superintendent Dr. Jon Prince and board members were thrilled to participate in the Port St. Lucie Festival of Lights Parade as well as the Fort Pierce Sights and Sounds Christmas Parade this past weekend. He was joined by Board Chairman Debbie Hawley, Board Vice Chairman Jack Kelly, and Board Members Troy Ingersoll, Dr. Donna Mills, and Jennifer Richardson. A special thanks to the drivers of the school bus (Mitch Miller) and convertibles (De’Aundrea Myles, Beral Toney, and Trenecia Scott), as well as the communications department for the festive parade decorations.
