Florida offers families a free program called New Worlds Reading that helps VPK – 5th graders build their reading skills. Enrolled students get: 9 books that families choose each school year in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, or braille, and reading guides and activities that help kids develop their literacy skills. Available books include popular series like Clifford the Big Red Dog and The Magic School Bus. There is no income requirement to participate! EKGs are required for first-time high school student athletes in the 2026-27 school year. Specifically, this requirement applies to students participating in high school athletics for the first time, including incoming 9th-grade student-athletes, and students in grades 10–12 who have not previously participated in an FHSAA-sanctioned sport. Students who have already participated in a high school sport are not required to obtain an EKG at this time; however, obtaining one is strongly recommended as a best practice for student health and safety. Attention SLPS families! Students who require school bus transportation must be registered to ride for the upcoming school year. Registration is now open. To register your student, please visit the district website at www.stlucieschools.org and click on the “Register to Ride” link on the home page and complete the registration form. A confirmation email will be sent once we receive the completed registration. A separate form for each student is needed.
