Bayshore Elementary proudly celebrated students who demonstrated outstanding behavior during the first nine weeks of school! Students who did not receive a BIR or referral were invited to a special outdoor celebration filled with fun activities. Bayshore Elementary had an unforgettable Spirit Week filled with creativity, color, and fun! Each day celebrated a different theme, and students showed up dressed to impress. Monday kicked off with groovy styles from the 1960s and 1970s. On Tuesday, neon and bold patterns lit up the halls for 1980s Day. Wednesday brought back the trends of the 1990s and early 2000s. Over summer break, Mrs. Gray, our dedicated Media Specialist at Bayshore Elementary, led a remarkable renovation of the Media Center that left students and staff thrilled upon their return. Bayshore recently hosted a Mental Health Awareness night, bringing together students, families, and staff to promote mental well-being. Counselors Ms. Alexander, Ms. Cesar, Ms. Mora, Ms. Jones the School Based Mental Health Counselor, Ms. Bonner the school psychologist, and Ms. Napoleon the school social worker, along with teachers, each had booths offering valuable mental health resources. At Bayshore Elementary, our caring counselors recently organized delightful springtime activities to uplift spirits and show appreciation for both students and staff. The event featured a paper egg hunt where teachers, staff, cafeteria workers, front office personnel, and support staff eagerly participated. Each person collected seven eggs, each worth specific points, with the highest scorer earning a special reward. All staff also received bracelets and stickers with positive messages. Bayshore recently hosted student-led conferences with strong support from the community and the SLPS district office. Students had the opportunity to discuss their unit assessment data, PM data, and goals for PM 3 data with their parents, teachers, or staff. They also shared things they could work on at home, their aspirations, and their future career interests. Ms. Piekara’s third-grade class has been enthusiastically working on telling time and understanding elapsed time this week. The students engaged in various interactive activities to grasp these concepts. They used analog clocks to practice setting and reading different times and digital clocks to compare and contrast.
