Fairlawn Elementary’s second-grade students enjoyed a special day of learning, laughter, and family involvement during our annual Pumpkin Day celebration! Students were excited to welcome their family members into the classroom to participate in a variety of hands-on activities centered around pumpkins and math. Throughout the day, students put their math skills to work as they counted pumpkin seeds, measured the height and circumference of their pumpkins, and explored weight by weighing their pumpkins. Fairlawn Elementary was filled with imagination, creativity, and a little storybook magic as students and staff celebrated Storybook Character Day! Our school was transformed into a world of favorite storybook characters as everyone showed off their costumes and brought beloved books to life. Fairlawn Kindergarteners Enjoy Their First Field Trip to the 4-H Farm! Fairlawn Elementary kindergarteners recently enjoyed an exciting milestone as they took their first field trip to our local 4-H farm! Fairlawn Elementary’s kindergarten classes had a wonderful time celebrating the conclusion of Benchmark Unit 1 while learning about the life and legacy of Johnny Appleseed during Apple Week!  Our young learners enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities that brought their learning to life. Students read engaging apple-themed stories, participated in apple investigations, and explored the many characteristics of apples using their senses. Fairlawn Elementary staff recently traded in their school shoes for bowling shoes and had a fantastic time participating in Bowl for Kids’ Sake, an event benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Lucie County! Our kindergarteners at Fairlawn Elementary are off to a fantastic start! They have been working hard each day as they learn new routines, build important skills, and become confident members of our school community. One of the highlights has been mastering their scissor skills! What a wonderful way to kick off another school year at Fairlawn Elementary! Our Back-to-School Luau was such a fun and memorable event for our students, families, and staff. Although we had to reschedule the luau because of rain, Mother Nature tried to test us one more time! This special celebration gave our students the opportunity to share a meal and spend quality time with some of the most important people in their lives. Fairlawn Elementary is growing something exciting this year—a brand-new Gardening Club! This wonderful new group gives students the opportunity to get outside, get their hands dirty, and learn all about the amazing world of plants and gardening. Each week, students participate in engaging gardening lessons where they learn about plants, soil, seeds, and what it takes to help a garden grow. They also spend time working in our school garden, putting their new knowledge and skills into action.
