Village Green Environmental Studies School’s PBIS team held their annual Color Fun Run this past Saturday, April 12th. Students had the opportunity to raise funds that will help Village Green create Building Thinking Classrooms to help enhance student engagement. Additionally, the PBIS team aims to support student incentives that encourage positive behavior and staff incentives to foster a strong, positive school culture. Bayshore recently hosted student-led conferences with strong support from the community and the SLPS district office. Students had the opportunity to discuss their unit assessment data, PM data, and goals for PM 3 data with their parents, teachers, or staff. They also shared things they could work on at home, their aspirations, and their future career interests. Each student presented a folder containing samples of their work and data, which they shared with their families. The Florida Health Department offered a valuable program focused on bike safety for students at Morningside Elementary. Participants learned the importance of wearing helmets, bright clothing, and appropriate footwear to enhance visibility and protection while cycling. As part of the curriculum, kids practiced essential safety measures, including stopping at stop signs and dismounting their bikes to walk across crosswalks. In an interactive event at Allapattah Flats K-8, the Centennial Boys’ Basketball team took time off the court to inspire young readers. Port St. Lucie Biomedical students recently engaged in a valuable hands-on learning experience at Keiser University, collaborating with Dr. Weir and his dedicated team. This unique opportunity allowed them to delve into the complexities of disease transmission through a compelling HIV simulation experiment. Working with simulated samples representing both infected and non-infected individuals, the students took on the critical task of identifying the participant who initiated the spread of the disease within the study group. Ms. Piekara’s third-grade class has been enthusiastically working on telling time and understanding elapsed time this week. The students engaged in various interactive activities to grasp these concepts. They used analog clocks to practice setting and reading different times and digital clocks to compare and contrast. One fun activity involved timing their favorite classroom tasks, like reading or drawing, and then calculating the elapsed time. On Saturday, April 5th, 2025, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their yearly Service-Learning project with the help of “Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful”. This year’s project was held at their school, Port St. Lucie High School. Cadets all met at the flagpole by their school, and they were separated depending on their companies. Each company was assigned to a different location around the school and 4 surrounding neighborhoods. SLWK8 third grade students investigate their very own community of St. Lucie County! Students from Mrs. D’Andrea’s Gifted Class had a chance to deep dive into the history of our community. Students picked a historical place in St. Lucie County to research ranging from the stunning Sunrise Theatre to the Roosvelt Bridge. Students then displayed information in a shoebox model. Students wrote their information along the outside on the box. Inside the box is a display of the historical place. SLWK8 Entrepreneurs competed in the CTE Showcase on April 2, 2025, at the St. Lucie Public Schools District office.
