CAST Creativity with Scientific Knowledge

The 6th-grade science class at CAST has been hard at work combining creativity with scientific knowledge to get ready for hurricane season. As part of a special assignment, students explored what goes into a hurricane supply kit—and they didn’t just write about it! Each student chose a unique way to showcase their understanding: some created informative videos, others designed eye-catching posters, built engaging PowerPoint presentations, or wrote thoughtful essays. These projects highlighted not only what supplies are essential during a storm, but also the importance of preparation and safety. Learning About Geology at Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie

Sixth-grade science students at CAST recently brought geology to life through a creative and engaging classroom project that modeled the layers of the Earth. Led by their science teacher, Ms. Jill Albers, students used everyday materials to construct a tactile representation of Earth’s internal structure, deepening their understanding of one of science’s most fundamental concepts. To build their models, students used a marble to represent the inner core, Play-Doh in two colors to symbolize the outer core and mantle, and wrapped the entire model in foil to depict the crust. This hands-on approach allowed students to visualize and physically explore … Read More
