On Thursday, January 31st, the Jazz Bands from Palm Pointe participated in the Florida Bandmasters District 13 Jazz Band Performance Music Assessment at St. Lucie West Centennial High School where they were evaluated by a panel of three state certified Jazz Adjudicators. We are proud to announce that both bands achieved straight superior ratings, which is the highest possible rating. Congratulations to the Palm Pointe students and staff on this awesome achievement.
Northport Media Specialist Lynne Gruszka is celebrating with two of the school’s fantastic volunteers from PSL Church — Stephanie Sakowski and Northport Senior Volunteer of the Year, Jean Lindo. These great ladies serve Northport with love and care ❤. Happy Valentines Day from some of the school’s library staff.
At Mariposa Elementary, Mrs. Bonilla’s VPK is working on learning about patterns. They have already learned about AB patterns and now they have moved to working on ABB patterns. Arianna Lopez, Charles Sloan, Hunter Schultz, Annahisha Charles, and Cristian Gomez were provided with visuals and hands on examples. Then they were given counting squares so that they could work on making an ABB pattern individually.

Northport and Big Brothers Big Sisters invites parents, police officers, firefighters, veterans along with our school and business community to hop on our schedule and come on over to NP to read some Dr. Seuss books to kids in our VPK through third grade classrooms. The Hurston Branch Library will display the artwork of Lincoln Park Academy students grades 6th– 8th from January 15th – February 15th. The Zora Neale Hurston Branch Library is located at 3008 Avenue D, Fort Pierce, Florida, just west of 29th Street. The student artwork represents individual expressions of peace and justifies why kindness matters in a global sense. For over three decades, Lions Clubs around the globe have sponsored this “peace” themed art contest for schools and youth groups. Northport celebrated the joys of literacy all week with many different activities including book chains, storybook snowmen, and buddy reading activities. Northport kindergarten students from Mrs.Ceville’s class, Toore Chester and Abigail Reid, took the very first Valentine picture in the media center Valentine Picture Booth. The little girls were thrilled to take their first Valentine photo together. The picture booth will be open until Valentines Day for pictures with students and teachers as well as parents, grandparents and families. Simply PRECIOUS!
A big congratulations goes to the Northstar and Marlin teams for the second nine weeks Honor Roll celebration. There were a record number of Perfect Attendance and Principal’s Honor Roll students for the entire sixth, seventh and eighth grade teams. There was also a sterling number of B and A Honor Roll recipients on the teams. We are so proud of the record achievements of our students. Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST) students learned the history of the Vero Beach Film Festival (VBFF) as well as how they may be the next scholarship prize winner. Earlier this month, CAST members were delighted to meet and experience Jerusha Stewart, Founder and Executive Director of the acclaimed VBFF. Ms. Stewart shared with the middle school filmmaking students how they could submit their films to be considered for the VBFF 2019 Festival coming up on June 6 – 9 and urged them to submit early and correctly for their chance to win an all-expense paid trip to shadow … Read More
Palm Pointe kindergarten and first grade students came all decked out to celebrate the 100th day of school. Boys and girls were seen using their walkers and canes to get around school today as they were dressed as 100 year old ladies and gentlemen. Some of the students took the time to create shirts with 100 items on them. Wow, are these students creative! They were all thrilled to celebrate their 100 days of learning thus far.
Guest Reader Day at White City Elementary (WCE) was a huge success. Community members were invited to read Miss Alaineus to grades K-5 classes at WCE. It was another great day at WCE!

SLW Centennial High School NAVY JROTC‘s own Naval Science Instructor Gunnery Sergeant Rodriguez, USMC (Ret.) participated in the Woodcarvers Purple Heart Cane presentation this weekend on the 26th of January 2019. He can be seen on the accompanied picture third from the right. The Woodcarvers Organization presents handmade walking canes to Military Veteran and Active Duty Purple Heart recipients.

Northport Media Center and some of our sixth graders served as hosts to our community partner, Step Up America. John McIntosh spoke to our students about the three branches of Government and understanding the Constitution and Bill of Rights. He reviewed the 1st Amendment which is Freedom of Speech. John also spoke about the importance of service to your community and volunteering. He spoke about the importance of our military and first responders and taking care of each other. Mr. Nunez’s 7th grade science class at Manatee Academy created a recipe they like to call “The Kohlrabi Salsa” using fresh ingredients from a garden right outside their classroom! The ingredients include kohlrabi, cilantro, yellow pear tomatoes, and green onion. Way to go!
Cadets from the SLW Centennial NAVY JRTOC proudly participated in the St. Lucie County Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade as part of the 35th Anniversary Commemorative Celebration. The theme this year was “A Legacy of Justice, Peace, and Equality.”
