During the month of September, Palm Pointe students participated in social emotional learning (SEL) activities, discussions, and community circles focused around the theme of Empowerment. On Friday, September 27th, students and staff wore yellow to show that they support the empowerment of others. Empowerment is defined as, “…the belief that people, and more specifically our youth, have the ability to implement positive change in their own lives and the lives of others, and contribute to something larger than themselves.” When we promote empowerment we can cultivate each others’ ability to share their gifts, talents, and abilities, and develop their voices that will allow them to flourish today and in the future. We know the students of today will be the leaders of tomorrow and that their voices for positive change will be heard.
