On Saturday, August 29, Lincoln Park Academy’s Band Program welcomed more than 70 future musicians to its annual Mouthpiece Party Day. Students had the opportunity to test mouthpieces and instruments, helping them find the best fit as they begin their musical journey. The event also featured games, prizes, and an informational parent meeting designed to help families prepare for a successful year in band. St. Lucie West K-8 Sharks Multiply the Fun Through Movement and Math

St. Lucie West K-8 students in Ms. Hirstius’ third-grade class combined learning and movement during an exciting multiplication number line activity. Using a life-sized number line on the classroom floor, students eagerly took turns solving multiplication problems by making equal jumps to represent groups and products. As they worked, classmates checked one another’s thinking, provided feedback, and engaged in meaningful mathematical discussions. This hands-on lesson helped students strengthen their understanding of multiplication concepts while building collaboration and problem-solving skills. By actively participating and supporting their peers, students demonstrated that math can be both engaging and fun. Way to go, Sharks!

Attracting Young Scientists at Palm Pointe K-8

Palm Pointe’s first graders kicked off their first hands-on science investigation by exploring magnets around the classroom! Students eagerly asked questions, made predictions, tested their ideas, and discovered which objects were attracted to magnets. As they investigated, they practiced observation skills, shared their thinking with classmates, and learned through exploration and discovery. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, excitement, and scientific thinking on full display as they embraced the role of young scientists. These engaging experiences help to build a strong foundation for future learning while encouraging students to wonder, explore, and make connections to the world around them.

Southport Middle School STEM students recently took on the role of engineers as they explored the principles of structural engineering through a hands-on bridge design challenge. St. Lucie West K-8 Sharks are becoming expert reading detectives in Ms. Paries’ classes! Students have been working hard to identify the relevant details that support the central idea of a text.
