On Saturday, October 19th, 2024, twenty biology teachers from St. Lucie Public Schools engaged in an exceptional professional development session, generously hosted by the Dairy Council of Florida. During this session, educators were trained in the use of a gel electrophoresis machine, a vital tool in genetic studies. A Letter from the President

For the second year in a row, Marta Almiron’s kindergarten class at West Gate K8 has written to the President of the United States and he has replied.  The students are studying animals of the Arctic and wanted to bring the plight of endangered polar bears to the attention of  President Obama.  The students were very excited to receive interesting materials about the White House as well as a letter and an autographed picture from the president himself!  Pictured above are the students with the letter and photograph. A Legacy of Honor: Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion’s Annual Flag Retirement

On February 27, 2026, the Jaguar Battalion conducted its annual flag retirement ceremony, a cornerstone tradition dedicated to the dignified disposal of unserviceable American flags. The process began with a coordinated collection effort from January 14th  to January 28th, during which designated Cadets and their respective Company Commanders gathered flags from predetermined neighborhoods located near Port St. Lucie High School. Following congressional recommendations for respectful decommissioning, the collected flags were carefully separated into their original colors—red, white, and blue—before being committed to the fire. A Hero Gets a Home

Port Saint Lucie High School cadets were honored to provide a saber guard when Army Specialist Gonzalez and his family were awarded with their new home. Army Specialist Gonzalez, a Port Saint Lucie veteran, lost his sight and suffered severe brain injuries in an IED explosion in 2004. The home was designed for his loss of sight with handrails and textured floors. A Great Grandparents Day at Manatee Academy

Grandparents Day at school is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bonds between students, their families, and the community. Manatee Academy K-8 welcomed grandparents on 9/06 to be a part of their grandchild’s morning. Grandparents were served breakfast and afterward the ‘ManaTeam’ walked grandparents to their grandchild’s classroom – each had a small token of appreciation waiting for them. A Good Cause with the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion

On January 22, 2026, the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion successfully hosted its third blood drive of the school year. In partnership with ONEBLOOD, the event saw 28 students, faculty, and staff members participate, potentially saving up to 84 lives. Cadets played an essential role in the drive’s success by managing various logistics. Key responsibilities included checking in donors to verify eligibility, acting as “runners” to escort students to and from their classes, and monitoring donors in the recovery area. A Future in Science: Path from Biotech to Biology

Kelsey is currently dual-enrolled in the AICE program. She is on track to complete her associate’s degree in general biology through IRSC in the spring and is part of the Biotechnology Academy at Treasure Coast High School. She is in the third year of the program, with an emphasis on molecular biology, following a year of study in agricultural science. A Day with Deputy Brennan!

Today our students spent time with Southern Oaks Middle School SRD to experience what it is like to be a School Resource Deputy! Students were provided with a special badge and explored the famous patrol car. Students enjoyed turning on the lights, activating the sirens, and spoke on the PA system. A Day of Discovery and New Beginnings at Morningside Elementary

A Day of Discovery and New Beginnings at Morningside Mrs. Eibl’s 2nd graders brought their Life Cycles study to life as they watched tiny chicks hatch right in their classroom. Through hands-on embryology, students carefully observed each stage of development, recorded their findings in journals, and asked thoughtful questions that showed growing understanding. They were excited to see science unfold before their eyes and make real-world connections. Once the chicks arrived, the class proudly chose names for their new feathered friends. The day blended curiosity, responsibility, and joy, creating a memorable learning experience that the students will never forget.

A Day of Creating for SLPS Music and Art Teachers

SLPS Music and Art teachers had a fantastic day of learning, collaboration, and creating during their professional development day on September 23rd. All made possible through a partnership with the St. Lucie Education Foundation and St. Lucie Cultural Alliance. Teachers took textured art, abstract art, monoprinting, paper mache, mixed media, and communal drumming classes. The SLCA was all in for St. Lucie Public Schools! It was exciting to see this happen for these dedicated educators.  

A Day in the Life of a Nurse
