On Saturday, October 19th, 2024, twenty biology teachers from St. Lucie Public Schools engaged in an exceptional professional development session, generously hosted by the Dairy Council of Florida. During this session, educators were trained in the use of a gel electrophoresis machine, a vital tool in genetic studies. This training was contextualized within the dairy farming industry and was complemented by an enlightening tour of a self-sufficient dairy farm in Okeechobee!
We extend our gratitude to the Dairy Council of Florida for providing the training, the tour, and the gel electrophoresis machines that the teachers were able to take back to their schools. Special thanks are also due to the St. Lucie Education Foundation for facilitating this opportunity. Lastly, we appreciate the dedication of the teachers from St. Lucie West Centennial High School, Treasure Coast High School, Port St. Lucie High School, Fort Pierce Westwood High School, Dale Cassens, and Mosaic Digital Academy, who devoted their Saturday to acquiring new and relevant knowledge to enhance their classroom instruction.
