On Saturday, April 15th, the Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion competed in the Florida State Drill meet at George Jenkins High School after placing 1st in the Area 3 Drill Meet in Jupiter. Our Female and Male teams competed against 120+ of the best JROTC programs in the state of Florida. We competed in Unarmed/Armed Squad, Unarmed/Armed Platoon, Solo, Dual, Squad, and Platoon Exhibition Drill. The competition went fantastic as the Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion managed to achieve multiple top 10 finishes and finish the JROTC drill season on a positive note.

The fifth graders from Ms. Jacob’s class used starburst candies to learn about sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary rocks, also known as sandwich rocks, can be found in rivers, lakes, and oceans. Students completed a graphic organizer as they learned about different types of rocks and how they are formed.

Palm Pointe Middle School art students worked hard to create a beautiful recycling art project.  It took two months and over 900 water bottles all from our school, that would have gone in the trash/landfill. This gorgeous piece of artwork will be displayed at the Oxbow Ecocenter in celebration of Earth Day at their festival on April 22nd. There are expected to be over 7,000 attendees!  Way to go Mrs. Wessel and the Palm Pointe artists for turning trash into treasure!

        In a world where dogs and cats are at odds with each other, a kitty and puppy show that friendship can change everything! The first-grade students did an excellent job performing the Unity Tree. Mrs. Allen and the students worked tirelessly preparing for this performance and the students rocked the house.

The Speech-Language Pathologists showed their support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders by wearing blue for Autism Acceptance and Awareness Month. 1 in 36 children are diagnosed with ASD according to a 2020 report by the CDC.  Speech-language pathologists work with students with Autism to help improve their pragmatic language and functional communication skills.

Congrats to the Fort Pierce Westwood Academy Rough Drafts Poets Club who placed 3rd in the semifinals! We are so proud of you!

Kindergarten had a Dino-Mite time at their before school event! Students had to solve different clues to end up at their final destination! They also got to see a special visitor along the way!

Shout out to our Port St. Lucie High School Unified Boys 4×100 relay team!  This amazing team has worked very hard along with Coach Marangio, Coach Krigger, and Coach Dimeo who supported our students along the way. Fort Pierce Westwood Academy Army JROTC Program held its Annual Cadet Ball at the 500 Orange Event Center in Downtown Fort Pierce. The event is a time-honored tradition within all JROTC programs that allows Cadets and their guests to participate in a formal ceremony as well as have some fun in wrapping up a long year’s worth of hard work and self-improvement. Northport K-8 sixth-grade students in Mr. Fess’ Northstars STEM class performed electrolysis to separate water into hydrogen and oxygen. These students are in the middle of their hydrogen energy unit in their Energy & the Environment curriculum. The students are learning how hydrogen can be used to power different devices. Students will soon create hydrogen-powered prototypes of their own.

Lincoln Park Academy’s IB students had an afternoon of fun and competition at the first annual IB Field Day. Students competed in events against other grades. For a fundraiser, students were able to pie their teacher in the face, which allowed both students and teachers to let loose! And to cool down, students purchased ice cream from Cool Beanz ice cream truck, a Tradition-based coffee and ice cream shop. It was an excellent time to build community and have fun. 

Congratulations to both of our Odyssey of the Mind teams who went to Orlando this weekend to compete in the State competition. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication this year! Way to go Rockets!

Students enjoyed the Career Connect demonstrations at IRSC. Students spoke with many different businesses for future career opportunities in our community.

The Lincoln Park Academy Middle School Student Council has been volunteering at Graceway Village this semester, organizing food, helping with clothing donations, and donating books to this community-based program. Their heart for serving others shines through all they do!

Students at PSLHS attended the Career Connect Conference today sponsored by CareerSource Research Coast where they were connected with businesses and education advisors from our Tri-County area (Indian River, St. Lucie & Martin). Thank you Mrs. Shepherd, Ms. Adams, Ms. Nemo, Ms. Brooks, Mrs. Derry, Mr. Anton, and Mrs. Griffin for attending, coordinating, and chaperoning our students on this AWESOME trip!

Oak Hammock K8 School observed its annual Holocaust Remembrance Day. Mrs. Belkis Madera and her 6th-grade students organized an amazing event where a group of Holocaust survivors and other dignitaries spent the entire day at our school sharing their stories with our fifth and sixth-grade students as well as some of our District Board members and Administrators. The Survivors took a moment to admire the Holocaust Gallery display that was created by the students.
