On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Port St. Lucie community came together for the vibrant “Kickin’ It For Andrew” 5K Color Run, hosted at Manatee Academy K-8 School. This annual event, organized by the Andrew Schmeer Foundation, honors the memory of Andrew Schmeer, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on September 8, 2014. The foundation continues his legacy by raising funds to provide college scholarships for well-rounded students along the Treasure Coast, as well as supporting animal rescues and children’s charities. Students at MSE enthusiastically participated in the exciting project of writing and illustrating their own books. Each student showcased their creativity and storytelling skills, transforming ideas into unique stories accompanied by colorful illustrations. To recognize outstanding work, one student from each grade was selected as the grade-level winner by a panel of judges using a detailed rubric. At St. Lucie West Centennial High School, a group of Outboard Marine students recently earned industry certifications in engines, electronics, and electronic systems. These certifications mark a significant achievement, officially recognizing the students as certified technicians ready to enter the workforce. As part of the awards ceremony, the students proudly presented electrical systems they built themselves. Their projects included emergency lighting setups, functional radios, and call systems. The SLW Centennial Eagles played well at the Spring Football Game held at the South County Stadium. The matchups were short and intense. However, the varsity squad showed resilience and skill by winning both games. In the first game, the Eagles played Heritage High School with a close 7-6 victory. On May 17th, 2025, the Jaguar Battalion successfully executed a clean-up project at the Fort Pierce Boys and Girls Club, uniting schools, JROTC programs, and community volunteers. Cadets reported early to the Fort Pierce Boys and Girls Club, ready to tackle a three-phased operation.
