White City Elementary students bring creativity to life with incredible animations, made possible by a generous STEM Grant from the St. Lucie Education Foundation! Mr. Tobin, art teacher at White City Elementary, guided the students through hands-on exploration, as they uncovered the science behind animation, learning how cameras capture movement and how frame rates shape what we see. Students at SLW Centennial High School were recently rewarded with a sweet treat for their outstanding performance on the Algebra and Geometry End-of-Course (EOC) exams. Those who scored a level 3, 4, or 5 were invited to enjoy an ice cream incentive, which was provided by their class sponsors. The Fashion Club, in collaboration with FAITH Univerzity, recently hosted an engaging and impactful financial literacy workshop led by esteemed alumna Sandra Gabriel, a proud graduate of the FPC program. At Shark Nation, they have heart, literally! Operation Math was an outstanding mathematical and collaborative success. It was time for fifth-grade Sharks to put their skills to the test! They scrubbed in and rotated through different surgical suites (classrooms) to answer and solve questions based on various math benchmark standards they learned throughout the school year. As they successfully solved problems, they repaired the patient’s organs. In a powerful tribute to Mental Health Awareness Month, SLW Centennial art students created a striking display of ceramic figures that reflect the complexities of mental health. Each student crafted a unique sculpture representing their interpretation of a person living with a mental health condition, including bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance use disorder, and more. Village Green Environmental Studies School’s PBIS team hosted their annual end-of-year carnival celebration on Friday, May 23rd, to celebrate the hard work both Village Green students and staff demonstrated throughout the year! Fort Pierce Central High School continued its commitment to environmental stewardship and community beautification with its annual tree planting event, proudly hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA). SGA continued the Tree Restoration Project this year by planting our second Oak Tree in as many years. At SLW Centennial, Spanish students recently brought their language lessons to life by preparing and sharing homemade dishes in class. This hands-on culinary project was the culmination of their unit on food, ingredients, and formal commands, allowing students to apply their grammar skills in a meaningful and memorable way. The 5th-grade students at Morningside Elementary hosted their first Energy Carnival, showcasing their creativity and knowledge about different forms of energy. They built fun and educational games related to energy concepts, making learning exciting. Students from all grades in the school had the chance to attend the carnival, play the games, and learn about energy in an interactive way. Ms. Elisabet Flores, one of our dedicated staff members, served as a judge in the Port St. Lucie Utilities Department’s annual Best Tasting Water Contest. Each year, the department hosts this contest to evaluate the water quality from different utilities in the region. Judges score the samples based on clarity, odor, color, and taste.
