On Monday, November 3, the Fort Pierce Central High School National Honor Society (NHS) joined forces with Forest Grove Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) for a spirited sidewalk cleanup along 25th Street in Fort Pierce. The event showcased not only civic responsibility but also the power of cross-campus collaboration. Students met in front of Forest Grove MS and walked towards Fort Pierce Central, turning at Bell Street.

Over 50 students wearing their school colors with pride, the Central Cobras and Forest Grove Bulldogs worked side by side to clear debris, sweep walkways, and beautify the neighborhood. The cleanup effort stretched from after school until early evening with students demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and a shared commitment to community service by filling over 19 bags of trash.
Forest Grove’s NJHS members brought youthful energy and enthusiasm, while Central’s NHS students modeled mentorship and organization. Together, they transformed the sidewalks into safe, welcoming paths for pedestrians and neighbors.

The event was part of a broader initiative to foster civic engagement and inter-school partnerships. Teachers and advisors from both schools praised the students’ dedication and camaraderie, noting how the cleanup reflected the values of honor, service, and school pride.

A little snack break kept the good efforts continuing! As trash grabbers reached and trash bags filled, the Cobras and Bulldogs proved that when students unite for a cause, the impact reaches far beyond the pavement. Thank you to Mrs. Turner, NJHS Sponsor and Mrs. Katie Avra, NHS Sponsor for supervising this worthy event.
