Treasured Turtles at SGA

Rebecca and Cody Mott from the Inwater Research group conducted a Treasured Turtles program with Gaines Academy 6th grade science classes. The program engaged, educated, and stimulated the students into thinking about the world of marine science and ocean conservation. The students especially enjoyed the hands-on artifacts and specimens.

Dan McCarty Singing Eagles Earn Superior Rating For Inspiring Performance

The Singing Eagles Choir from Dan McCarty Middle School recently participated in the District 13 Music Performance Assessment earning straight “Superior” ratings. The choir received an “A” rating from all four judges in performance and sight-reading. In addition, the students were highly praised for their performance. The chorus is directed by Dr. Rolanda A. Jones.

Windmill Point Elementary FSA Family Trivia Night

Windmill Point families enjoyed learning important information about the upcoming FSA assessments through a fun night of family trivia! Families worked together to solve problems like the ones their children will see on FSA. Jaguar Battalion Drill Team – First Place

The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Drill Team hosted the 22nd Annual Area Three Drill Meet. Best school overall was determined by the combined scores of the male and female drill teams. Our drill team competed against 18 other schools, and earned First Place overall. The Jaguars did an outstanding job and will be training hard for the Florida State Final Drill Competition in Lakeland, FL on April 15th-16th. Congratulations to all of the cadets.

Students Learn the Importance of Breakfast at C. A. Moore Elementary

To celebrate National School Breakfast Week, Cafeteria Manager Maria Coellos-Mayz and Manager Intern Diana Crosdale dressed up to welcome students to school on Monday to highlight the importance of a healthy breakfast each morning.  Students were definitely excited to enter the cafeteria on Monday and see what a wonderful breakfast the cafeteria staff had prepared for them.

Mariposa Elementary Visits the Hallstrom Planetarium

Mrs. Michelle Smith’s second grade students from Mariposa Elementary were privileged to visit the Hallstrom Planetarium at Indian River State College.  The children learned how to find cardinal directions in the sky to help them discover different constellations.  Students also took a trip through space, learning about how the planets closer to the sun are hotter than those further from the sun.  Did you know you could fit a million Earths in the sun? Northport Celebrates 30th Birthday and Dr. Seuss with Flair and Finesse and Much Love!

Northport K-8 School held a spectacular morning of Community Involvement recently to celebrate not only the birthday of Dr. Seuss, but also the 30th birthday of the school. Northport is so proud of the forward progress made by the teachers and staff as well as the parents and students. SGA Buddy Classes

Mrs. Ebersole’s 4th grade and Mrs. Eaker’s Kindergarten class met for the first time to introduce themselves to their new buddies. Students were given puzzle pieces that led them to their buddy when they found the match.  They then exchanged notes and got to know each other. Students from both classes are looking forward to their weekly reading time together.

Parkway Families at Chuck-E-Cheese

The PTO from Parkway Elementary School recently organized a family get together at Chuck-E-Cheese!  This event was great and the families had a chance to play games and have a great time together.

Tunnel of Welcome for FPWHS Incoming Freshmen

Faculty, staff, and students created a welcome tunnel for our incoming students and their families at the Freshmen Open House.  The FPWHS band and cheerleaders boosted everyone’s spirits in our courtyard and the JROTC along with our chorus led the presentation with of colors, Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem.

Manatee Academy Students and Staff “Feelin’ Groovy”

Students and staff were “Feelin’ Groovy” at our Rockin’ Family Night. Parents learned about websites they can use with their children at home. We also had Deputy Lopez from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department talk to parents and students about Internet safety. Students were also able to shop for books with their families in our Scholastic Book Fair. VIPs Read to Manatee Academy Students

VIP readers visited several classes for our Dr. Seuss Day on March 2nd. Media Specialist Debbie Remington organized this event in which our “VIPs” read to our students and engaged in meaningful conversations about what they read.
