SLWCHS HOSA-Making Christmas Bright 2017

During the months of November and December, HOSA invited the faculty, staff, and students of SLWCHS to participate in a toy drive for the children on the caseload of Devereux Community Based Care of Okeechobee and the Treasure Coast.  These children are in protective custody due to unfortunate circumstances in their own homes.  They are often placed with foster families or relatives during this difficult time.   Eagle faculty, staff and students banded together and collected more than 175 gifts for these special children.  Members of our HOSA chapter and Allied Health classes helped load Devereux’s ‘sleigh’ last week.  Merry … Read More

SLWCHS Student Wins Outstanding Youth Award

Albert Morgan is a rising junior in the Allied Health program at SLWCHS. He is an excellent student, always attending school, on time for class, and always well-prepared. He is an active member of HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Albert is a member of the Boys & Girls Club, belonging to the Chuck Hill Unit. SLWCHS HOSA Students Earn Top Fundraising Award for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

SLWCHS HOSA Chapter is thrilled to announce the results of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fundraising for the 2015-2016 school year has been posted.  LLS is the HOSA National Service Project and all HOSA chapters participate in raising funds and raising awareness each year for the chosen charity. During this year’s Student Series Programs, nearly 26,000 schools—-a quarter of all schools across the country—engaged in meaningful service, leadership and helped save lives! SLWCHS Nursing Assistant Student Health Fair

On March 16th, 2016, the Nursing Assistant students at St. Lucie West Centennial High School held their annual health fair. The purpose of the Health Fair is to invite community partners who have health topics of interest to the teen population onto campus to present that information. SLWCHS HOSA Students Attend Spring Leadership Conference

Eight lucky St. Lucie West Centennial HOSA students started their Spring break a little early attending the 2015 HOSA Spring Leadership Conference March 26-29, 2015 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. The students participated in competitions that enhance their high school education while improving self-confidence and building professionalism. There are over 55 competitions which include Medical Innovation, Biomedical Debate, Sports Medicine, Clinical Nursing, Barbara James Service Award, National Service Project, and Job Seeking Skills.  Students also volunteered their time to assist in conference headquarters, judging middle school events, and counting pennies for HOSA’s National Service Project-Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We are excited to announce the new Saint Lucie West Centennial High School HOSA officers. We welcomed the new officers in an induction ceremony and also had an ice cream social with prizes! The officers from the 2013-2014 school year had to step down and “pass the torch” to the new officers for the 2014-2015 year in a candle lighting ceremony to symbolize the changes in office from former officers to the present officers. On April 3 – 6, 2014 Saint Lucie West Centennial HOSA traveled to their State Leadership Conference at Coronado Springs Resort in Walt Disney World. Over the course of the four days, two students qualified to attend HOSA’s National Leadership Conference. Alexia Stewart placed in the recognition event for Outstanding HOSA Chapter competing against twelve other regions with hundreds of other HOSA chapters. Centennial High health occupations students advance to state contests

Students in the allied health academy at St. Lucie West Centennial High School (SLWCHS) recently participated in the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Winter Leadership Conference at Keiser University in West Palm Beach along with HOSA members from all over Region IX to determine those who would go on to state competition. Local HOSA student leaders attend development camp

Students in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) programs from St. Lucie West Centennial, Treasure Coast, Fort Pierce Central, and Port Saint Lucie high schools recently participated in a statewide student Leadership Development Camp (LDC) held in Central Florida. the theme of the camp was “Learn from the past, prepare for the future.” Student leaders from around Florida gathered to learn more about what it takes to be a leader, participating in workshops and activities that encouraged skills such as good communication, time management, preparing for the future, and empowerment.
