Forest Grove Middle School students recently traveled to Medieval Times in Kissimmee, FL for a day of information, entertainment and lunch. Students viewed medieval artifacts and then watched medieval games, sword-fighting, and jousting while feasting on a hearty lunch. Shown in the photo are participants from FGMS.

8th grade MOA students planted slash pine seedlings for the Moore’s Creek, Wesley Island restoration project. They will continue taking care of them until they are large enough to transplant where they are needed! What a great way to support our local waterways and learn proper growth care of plants! Our MOA 6th graders had an awesome day getting their feet wet and searching the skies for birds that frequent our local ecosystem. Their findings help them to better understand our local waterways and how the animals coexist in the habitat. Our future environmentalists are hard at work! Way to go Bulldogs!

March 21 (3-21) is a symbolic date to celebrate people with Down Syndrome and those who live and work with them throughout the world. The date, 3-21, represents Trisomy 21, the medical term for Down syndrome, which is the third replication of the 21st chromosome. As part of the celebration around the world, people are encouraged to wear crazy socks. The crazy sock initiative was formed to get people talking and asking questions about Down Syndrome.

On Wednesday, November 15th, sixth grade world history students stepped back in time by taking a field trip to the St. Lucie Regional History Center. Students were excited to be joined by the new FGMS principal for the 2017-2018 school year, Mrs. Monarae Miller-Buchanan, and many staff members. All enjoyed seeing and hearing about the early Ais Indians, the later Seminole Tribe, artifacts and displays from the fishing industry, commerce and the furnished Gardner House. Many thanks to the St. Lucie Historical Society and to Nancy, employees, and volunteer staff at the museum.

The Forest Grove Middle School Chorus was well received at the 2016 Spring Music Festival in Orlando on April 22, 2016. Forty-six students displayed their talents and energy in performing two songs to win 1st Place in the Middle School Treble Choir Category. These students served as exemplary musical goodwill ambassadors for Forest Grove Middle School and St. Lucie County. The Music U.S.A. The Bulldog defense only allowed one goal in four games and provided the opportunities for hat tricks from both team captains – Javier Salgado and Diego Gonzalez. Mario Bello, Jesus Avila, and Roselis Mocteczuma also scored goals to lead the Bulldogs to their first championship.
