In celebration of Grandparents Day, SRE welcomed Grandparents and Caring Adults to muffins and activities in their little Cranes’ classroom. Each classroom provided guests with entertainment varying from songs, read-alouds, to performances and crafts. SRE was excited to host this event and looks forward to many more family events this year!
Ms. Stark’s Photography 1 class at Treasure Coast High School is learning how the camera was invented. Students learned about the humble beginnings of the camera by building their personal camera obscura (Latin for dark room) and turning their classroom into a giant camera obscura. Through this, they learned how light travels in a straight line causing the image to project inverted, and how the size of the aperture affects the projected image. The Lincoln Park Academy Key Club held its first meeting as new and existing members were welcomed back for the 2023-2024 school year. After the introduction of sponsors and the Key Club mission statement, plans were discussed for the club and its future endeavors. The first beach clean-up is scheduled for November 4th. Members can’t wait to share their hearts and skills with the rest of St. Lucie County!
Southport Middle School Drama students are hard at work preparing for their upcoming production of The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition, with public shows on December 8th and 9th. Treasure Coast High School is home to amazing, student-centered academies, Applied Engineering being one of them. Student Chloe Thaxter sets the oxy-acetelyne flame in her advanced manufacturing technology class. Chloe is a junior at Treasure Coast High School. When she graduates, she plans to become a welder. Student Elijah Hernandez is uploading the CNC Program in his applied engineering technology class. The CNC Program allows students to do manual processes automatically using code. Elijah is a senior at Treasure Coast High School. When he graduates, he plans to be a mechanical engineer in the United States Air Force.
We are excited to host the St. Lucie Public Schools College Fair on Thursday, September 21st, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Havert L. Fenn Center. St. Lucie Public School students in grades 9 through 12 are welcome to attend and will have the opportunity to meet with over 80 organizations ranging from armed services to technical schools, colleges, and universities. Today Treasure Coast High School’s Future Business Leaders of America team hosted an informational meeting for new and returning FBLA members. In this meeting, students were able to meet the new officer team, and receive information about future volunteer and fundraising opportunities and workshops.
C. A. Moore hosted their first Business Partner Breakfast. Special visitors Jacklyn Davis, the granddaughter of Mr. Chester A. Moore and D’Andrea Davis, the great- granddaughter stopped by to visit their grandfather’s school while visiting from Miami. Our business partners were amazed by the history shared about the school.
Fairlawn Elementary 2nd-grade students learned all about the qualities of a good citizen in August. The students studied the various symbols that represent the United States of America.
Third-grade students at Morningside Elementary are going mad over multiplication! Through engaging stations, academic games, and small group instruction, we are working hard to ensure all of our Blue Jays are learning every day. Treasure Coast High School is proud to announce Cross Country runner, Kaitlynn Moore, ran her personal best on Saturday with a time of 20:06 setting a new school record. She finished 3rd out of 132 runners at the Park Vista Invitational. Congratulations, Kaitlynn! Titan Born, Titan Bred!
All third-grade classes at Lakewood Park have been busy creating their own counting manipulatives in order to better explore mathematic concepts in a hands-on manner. These kid-made manipulatives are being used to reinforce multiplication and division concepts and will be brought out again soon when we explore rounding. Third-graders at Lakewood Park Elementary are exploring, learning, and creating their way to success!!
Lincoln Park Academy school counselors had the pleasure of attending the State University System of Florida Admissions Tour (SUS) held at Florida Atlantic University on August 30, 2023. The tour is an opportunity for middle and high school counselors to meet with State University Admissions Directors from universities such as the University of Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and many more; to learn admissions philosophies, policies, and procedures so counselors can better meet the needs of university-bound high school students. Port St. Lucie High School teachers Jasmine Shepherd, Nolan Shepherd, and Brittney Sievers worked together to launch the first-ever DECA chapter. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the world. For the first DECA meeting, students came together and conducted officer elections. Students came fully prepared with presentations and speeches. We are so excited for our students who are eager to launch this new experience that will help them reach their college and career goals!

Frances K. Sweet is excited to have a new community partnership with First United Methodist of Fort Pierce. Through this partnership, the church has already provided backpacks and supplies for students, school uniform shirts, and welcome-back goodie bags for all staff. First United will also provide Grace Packs to students and their siblings, volunteer at the school, provide Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring for literacy, and support the work already started in our botanical garden. We are so excited about this partnership and look forward to a SWEET year!
