FGMS: Mrs. Proctors Math Students are Engaged in Friendly Competition

Mrs. Proctors 7th grade students are playing a game called “Capture the Flag,” to review for their Unit 1 assessment on Solving problems involving rational numbers and the four operations! Working in groups students must answer a certain amount of questions and show the teacher; once all questions for that section are correct, they get to steal a flag (colored sticky note) from another table. FPC Chorus Sings In Courtyard

No Power, No Problem! Singing our school’s alma mater on Friday mornings is a weekly tradition at Central. With pride and poise, Cobra Nation braved a campus with no AC and newly restored power on Friday morning after the massive storms from the night before left our campus down two transformers. From Salsa to Mazes: MSE 5th Graders’ Journey Through Corn in ELA

5th-grade students in Mrs. Williams’ class had all sorts of learning fun and engagement during their first ELA unit that focused on corn! Students had the opportunity to taste many corn-related products throughout the unit, with corn salsa being a favorite! As a culminating activity, students brought literacy to life by creating and building their very own corn mazes!

FGMS After School STEM Program

Forest Grove Middle School has partnered with THE AMERICAN DREAM FACTORY. Our students have the opportunity to participate in a Video and Photography Team and a 3D Printing Team with this after-school program.

FPC Family Night Extravaganza

Cobra Families on Campus for SAC, Title I, ELL/ESOL Resources, and Senior Parent Info Session! FPC families were welcomed onto campus by Key Club members. Beginning at 4:00, the School Advisory Council (SAC) inaugural meeting kicked off a full night of information-packed events. Following SAC, dinner was prepared and served by Central’s Culinary Arts program in the cafeteria for families to enjoy. Friday Fun at FGMS

We celebrate the end of the week with an exciting Friday welcome (bubbles) and the Friday Fun Cart for lunch! Students earn Bulldog Bucks for following the BARK Expectations and can spend them on snacks, treats, and school supplies during their lunch time at the Friday Fun Cart.  

SLWK8 Math Doctors

In Mrs. Quiles’ 3rd grade class, students transformed into “Math Doctors” to explore the distributive property through a fun and interactive activity. By “performing surgery” on numbers, they learned how to decompose multiplication facts into simpler parts to solve!    

FPC PBIS Presents B-I-N-G-O

B-I-N-G-O was the game of choice for September’s PBIS lunchtime celebration. Campus PBIS events are a way for students demonstrating positive behaviors, role-modeling responsibility, and following school-wide expectations to earn extra prizes and be rewarded for their exemplary choices. Students with PBIS tickets gathered in the auditorium during both lunches for some riveting rounds of BINGO! Students show off their winning cards and cool prizes! Bayshore Elementary Celebrated Grandparent’s Day

We were thrilled to welcome our wonderful grandparents to Bayshore Elementary for a special Grandparents Day celebration! The turnout was fantastic, and it was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces. Our students and their grandparents enjoyed a day filled with fun activities, heartfelt moments, and cherished memories!

The faculty and staff members of Lawnwood Elementary participated in a Kids At Hope professional learning opportunity.  Mr. Kevin Singletary, Kids At Hope Training Coordinator & Treasure Hunter, provided a training for the treasure hunters of Lawnwood Elementary.  We believe all children are capable of success, No EXCEPTIONS!  

University of Florida 4-H Program Enriches St. Lucie West K8’s ELA Unit

Third graders enjoyed a guest speaker from the UF/4-H program that enriched our Animal Adaptations unit. They discovered how great horned owls use their feathers for camouflage, vertebrate animals, and how turtle shells offer protection. The presentation also covered how predators have developed specific traits for survival. This engaging session helped students understand the various ways animals adapt to thrive in their environments!

It Got Corny This Week at VGESS

Fifth graders at Village Green Environmental Studies School were excited to celebrate the completion of their reading unit on corn. Over the past few weeks, 5th grade has explored the fascinating world of corn through informative texts. They delved into its history, its significance in different cultures, and even the science behind its growth and uses. To celebrate the end of this enriching unit, they planned a special Corn Celebration Day! This event was a fun and educational culmination of all that the students have learned and experienced.

This week, our PBIS team hosted an amazing breakfast of Panera, fruit, and Natalie’s juice to express gratitude to our dedicated teachers and staff for their commitment to recognizing and rewarding students’ positive behaviors. Teachers and staff distribute purple tickets to students demonstrating school-wide expectations and making positive decisions. Engineering Through STEM at St. Lucie West K8

Students in Mr. Hammond’s 6th-8th grade Gifted Math classes were asked to design a bridge that could support itself over 10 inches. The surprise was that these mountains had landslides, so rocks were dropped on their bridge to test the strength. Each group was assigned a role of site manager, designer, and two builders. After their construction and before the test, students watched the Tacoma Bridge video to show what happens when engineering goes wrong.  Students had fun testing their engineering skills and being taught a real-world application of mathematics!

Stop and Stem Day at Lakewood Park

Students in VPK-5th grade at Lakewood Park participated in their first Stop and Stem Early Release Day this month! Students researched, designed, built, and tested various prototypes.  Our Falcon engineers were hard at work and enjoyed showing off their unique talents and skills!

Friday, September, 20th, Fort Pierce Central hosted its annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration staff luncheon. Pictured above, Ms. Lyna Soler stands at her door, greeting students adorned in her native Puerto Rican attire before the luncheon. Fort Pierce Central’s Cobra Culinary Arts program put on a remarkable feast of traditional dishes and contemporary renditions of celebrated delights. Fairlawn’s Student Success Night

Fairlawn paired their annual Title One meeting with a student success night for all families. Parents learned what a day in the life of their child is like in school and how they can support their student’s learning both in school and at home. Families had pizza and a great night of learning.
