Fort Pierce Westwood JROTC Supports Charity Event

HUGE praise goes out to the Westwood Army JROTC Raider Team who volunteered their Saturday, on April 6th, to compete in the 3rd Annual “Battle of the Branches” charity event held at the Florida Tech Challenge Course, in Fellsmere. The event is sponsored by Do You Give a Ruck? (DYGAR) which is a local veteran-run non-profit organization.  100% of the money that is raised at this annual event (from entries and donations) is used to help build homes for local homeless veterans and their families. This weekend LPA Theatre presented Footloose: The Musical! Wow!! Another amazing show from LPA Theatre! Footloose was absolutely brilliant and so fun! Morningside Principal Gets Pied for Attendance

Morningside’s principal is always finding ways to encourage students to show up! Recently, Morningside competed in a March Madness competition for perfect attendance. Grade levels who met their attendance goals each week earned points for their team. Then, the team with the most points (BEST attendance) for March, won the right to watch the “pie-ing” live. Fifth-grade students won that honor. Next, one student from each grade level  (and one staff member) with perfect attendance earned the right to pie their principal as a reward for perfect attendance. Comcast’s “Internet Essentials” is geared to those who have at least one child who receives free school lunches through the National School Lunch Program. Other criteria include being located where Comcast offers Internet service. This Sign-Up Event is for families that do not have Comcast services or have not subscribed to Comcast Internet Service in the last 90 days. Engineering in K at MSE

Engineering at its finest in Mrs. Spurr’s kindergarten class at Morningside Elementary— Recently, students watched Mrs. Forman, our principal, get “pied” for students meeting their attendance goals. During Play with a Purpose, Emrys built a “pie school” where you learn how to pie the principal! Also, Mrs. Forman’s new favorite gentle pie thrower made a rocket and a rocket launcher in MTSS steam. The goal was to make something that can move or be moved.

Fairlawn’s iready Gains Gameday

Fairlawn Elementary celebrated all students who grew in either math or reading from their fall to winter iready diagnostic! Students had an amazing time playing all sorts of different games and cooling down with a tasty treat!

LPA High School Students Win Dr. Samuel S. Gaines Essay Contest

For the second year in a row, LPA high school students won first, second, and third place in the district Dr. Samuel S. Gaines Essay Contest. Senior Milani Carpenter won first place; freshman Arianna John won second place; and sophomore Madison Coloso took third. Congratulations to these students, and a special thanks to their teachers: Mrs. Melissa Cassella and Ms. Brienne Slocum.              

Palm Pointe Reading Olympians

As part of a strategic intentional review, 4th grade Palm Pointe students participated in a Reading Olympic Opening Ceremony competition. This was an exciting and engaging way to prepare for their upcoming FAST PM 3 test.

Southport Middle School Welcomes Incoming Village Green Elementary Students

Guidance Counselors from Southport Middle School and Village Green Elementary School coordinated a wonderful reception for Southport’s incoming students for the 2024-2025 school year. Ms. Bernard and Mrs. Cannon’s presentation and a tour of the school gave the future Canes a glimpse into middle school life. The day included a fun ice breaker with SPMS Assistant Principal Dr. Roy in the Media Center, after which guidance counselors presented the course selection process and the electives that they will be able to choose to take at Southport. Students at Morningside Elementary enjoy learning during their STEAM resource time. Students in third grade learned about the solar eclipse and drew a picture depicting what was happening in our solar system. There is always so much to learn and do at Morningside Elementary. 

Lawnwood Elementary School Partners with Applebees/Fort Pierce

Lawnwood’s third annual flapjack fundraiser was a BIG HIT! The families of Lawnwood Elementary School were served breakfast by the LWN staff members.  A special thank you goes out to the staff of Applebees/Fort Pierce for being a local business partner. Palm Pointe Attendance Spirit Week

Palm Pointe celebrated attendance with an attendance spirit week! Students dressed like superheroes, wore their best wacky tacky outfits, showed off their school colors, and they got to finish out the week wearing their best outfits for Spring Picture Day! It was a fun week for all! #attendancematters

LPA Chorus “Superior with Distinction” at FVA State Solo and Ensemble MPA

Congratulations to the following chorus students who participated in the Florida Vocal Association State Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Assessment which was held at Palm Beach Atlantic University. SLWCHS moves to National HOSA Competition

Let’s congratulate our HOSA State Competitors! Ella Treadway, Genevieve Donaus, Alexia Morgan, and Kechna Fieffe competed against over 3,800 competitors from across the state of Florida. St. Lucie West Centennial High School represented St. Lucie Public Schools with two finalists. Special recognition to Genevieve Donaus, placing 4th in Nursing Assisting, and Ella Treadway for taking the 1st place position in Human Growth & Development. Morningside Shines Bright

MSE Shines BRIGHT in the Solar Eclipse Light! Today, classes viewed the eclipse and recorded observations. Students then answered the essential question: Did Florida experience a Total Solar Eclipse? Then teachers were treated with an eclipse-themed lunch, SunChips, moon pies, Sunkist, and pizza pies. It was a sunny day for all. #MSEshinesBRIGHT

LPA Students Investigate at CSI STEM Night

On April 4th, the LPA Science Bowl hosted their first CSI STEM Night. Students who attended investigated the case of the missing spirit stick. They analyzed fingerprints and fibers, used black lights to inspect the crime scene, and interrogated suspects – all to find the culprit who stole the spirit stick! School Resource Officers and the St. Lucie County CSI Unit also attended to help facilitate the investigation.
