Fort Pierce Central High School Key Club members attended their District Conference for the first time in the club’s history. The Florida District Education and Leadership Conference (DCON) is the culmination of the Key Club year and was held in Daytona, Florida for 4 days. This annual event is attended by over 2,000 students and chaperones from clubs all over Florida and the Caymon Islands. After reading the three parts of Stuart Little, third graders in Ms. Balfe’s class put their knowledge and basketball skills to the test as they worked in teams to answer literacy-based questions!  

Students at Oak Hammock K8 School participated in an after school PBiS event. To participate in this activity, students had to have earned 10 Osprey dollars and have no referrals for an allotted period. Students enjoyed dancing, a tattoo station, arts and crafts, pizza, and cupcakes. A good time was had by all who participated.

Students in 3rd – 5th grade have started a unit entitled What Can AI Do? They will be exploring a variety of AI technologies to establish a strong foundational knowledge about what AI is, how AI works, and how AI technologies might be used to help people. Students will be exploring several examples of AI programs to consider what tasks AI does well and which tasks AI does not do well. Students from Oak Hammock K8 participated in Career and Technical Education (CTE) showcase with students from middle and high schools across St. Lucie Public Schools. The Showcase was all about Entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial mindset. The CTE classroom is a perfect place for teaching these skills, since CTE teachers already cover many lessons and projects in entrepreneurship. The categories were New Food truck concept, E-commerce, 3D Printing, Welding, Artistic creation, and Middle School Entrepreneurship. Oak Hammock k-8 participated in the middle school Entrepreneurship category. Students at Oak Hammock K8 School continue to Level up Learning, to Level up Success!  

On Wednesday, April 24th at 6:30 PM, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion hosted our Annual Change of Command Ceremony, Relinquishing the current Battalion Commander c/LTC Michael Coccaro of his duty and welcoming c/LTC Tamiya Ferguson to command and lead the Jaguar Battalion on a successful path for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Congratulations to the Palm Pointe Jazz Band. They participated in the Lakeside Jazz Festival in Port Orange Florida. Out of 19 bands they took home trophies for the Best Overall Rhythm Section, Best Overall Trombone Section as well as Overall Best Band at the festival. They also received a superior rating. The students were pleased to see their hard work pay off and are looking forward to more jazz growth!

Fifth-grade students are sorting context clues out of “spaghetti intestines,” pulling relevant details from “cauliflower brains,” and examining signal words in “gumball eyeballs” while working collaboratively to review previously taught content standards!

Palm Pointe students got to enjoy a Family Baseball Night at Clover Park! Students watched the baseball game, Assistant Principal Mr.Keelor got to throw the first pitch, our middle school Vocal Vision choir sang the National Anthem, our elementary chorus sang “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the 7th inning stretch, and students had the opportunity to the run the bases after the game. It was a fun night had by all!

Fifth graders in Mrs. Portee’s class prepared for their upcoming science assessment on Forces and Changes in Motion through an interactive and collaborative review. The microphone ball was tossed from one classmate to another as they broadcasted their answers to complete the review!
