FPC Key Club Participates in Annual Holiday Parade

Central’s Key Club continued their holiday tradition of participating in Fort Pierce’s annual Sights and Sounds Parade. Taking place in historic and scenic downtown Fort Pierce, the FPC Key Club had 244 members walk in the parade. Along with wearing their festival Santa hats, Key Club members carried and waved giant Crayola Crayons in honor of the theme of the parade Color Me Christmas. FPC has the largest and most active Key Club in the State of Florida with 335 members who have amassed more than 2,300 volunteer hours, serving and supporting needs in the community. Last month, Manatee Academy K-8 held their annual Cookies for Santa Event. This festive gathering has become a cherished highlight for families, offering a variety of activities that captured the magic of the season. SLW Centennial High School’s 2nd Annual Student Recovery Day

On January 6th, SLW Centennial High School held its second annual Student Recovery Day. This is a heartfelt initiative aimed at reconnecting with students who had chronic absences and low GPAs during the first semester. Teachers, counselors, and staff members split into teams to visit approximately 65 families, reaching out to students who had been struggling with attendance and academic performance. MDA Volunteers at Treasure Coast Food Bank

Mosaic Digital Academy recently participated in the Friends and Family Weekend at the Treasure Coast Food Bank, contributing their time and energy to help those in need in the community. As part of the event, the students assisted in sorting, organizing, and packing various donations, which will provide critical resources to families in need. This volunteering experience offered students a valuable opportunity to connect with their peers, family members, and local volunteers while giving back to those in need. Their involvement reinforced the importance of service and compassion, as well as the power of collective effort in creating positive change.

Eighth-grade Northstars students in Mr. Fess’ STEM class have been working hard designing, constructing, and coding their own racecars! The students built and coded their designs using VEX robotics. This is one of many robotics projects these students will complete this year. The students have been studying gear ratios, coding, and mechanical construction prior to this exercise. Each racer was required to have an increased gear ratio for increased speed and a push-to-start button. A tournament was held to determine the fastest car. St. Lucie West Centennial is incredibly proud of our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students for achieving a 100% pass rate on their certification test. Southport Middle Celebrates PM2 Growth

At Southport Middle School, students celebrated their PM2 growth with yummy treats!  Students were rewarded for making growth in one subject (reading or math) with chips and Takis.  However, students who made growth in both subjects (reading and math) were rewarded with chips/Takis as well as a Nacho Bar.  The Nacho Bar consisted of chips, meat, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and jalapenos.   Students enjoyed creating their own nachos. Before winter break, Fort Pierce Central freshmen leadership techniques students benefited from in-person visits to sample CTE program offerings. CTE or Career Technical Education courses offer real-world training for students to graduate high school with needed job readiness skills, training, and certificates to enter the working world. The Girls on the Run Program is so much more than a running club! Participants not only engage in healthy physical activity while developing confidence and learning life skills, but they also learn about the strength of teamwork and helping others.
