Our JAWSOME third-grade students and teachers at St. Lucie West K-8 School participated in a drive-through wax museum where they depicted influential Americans. Students have been learning all about Americans that have made a significant impact in our country. Students then picked their own important American to research, wrote a biography, created a poster, and presented their chosen American to their classmates. The wax museum was a way to celebrate all of our fantastic learning!!! WAY TO GO, SHARKS!
Mariposa Elementary’s Reading Interventionist, Julia Biondolillo, introduced 3rd graders to Elkonin boxes which were created on the floor as a way to help the students create a new pathway for learning how words work. This activity helps the students slow down their brain by learning how to stretch a word to hear and record the sounds/letter patterns. This movement was followed up by writing the word on a whiteboard to make sure their oral language matched their written language. What a great way to incorporate listening, writing, and reading with a fun activity! A great lesson for all!
Thank you to all the students, staff, and leadership for supporting and representing Fort Pierce Central in this incredibly important commemoration of freedom, compassion, sacrifice for a better America for all.
