Lincoln Park Academy Visual Arts Visits Major Exhibition of American Impressionist Work in South Florida

Mr. McGraw’s LPA visual arts students were invited to visit the Society of the Four Arts on Palm Beach for their 2022 season exhibit, In a New Light: American Impressionism 1870–1940. Students were able to view works from major American Impressionists from the 19th and early 20th century as well as learn about the history and mission of the society. “For students to have the opportunity to see the actual pieces in person significantly impacts their understanding of how paintings are made, and this knowledge positively impacts their own work/projects in the classroom”.

Mr. McGraw and the Society’s Mrs. Harris (of historic J.C. Harris) arranged for students to enjoy lunch in the Society’s sculpture gardens and study the vast collection of sculptural works and architectural elements in the societies collection. In a continued effort to establish an annual visit for LPA visual arts students to the Society Galleries during the season, the Society graciously offered the opportunity to visit these major regional exhibits free of charge.
