Southport Middle School enthusiastically welcomed its 6th-grade students on July 26th and 27th. Over the course of two days, students participated in a welcoming camp where they engaged in a school scavenger hunt to learn the layout of the land, participated in team-building games, competed in relay races, designed t-shirts, and asked questions to 7th and 8th-grade students to get a better understanding of what to expect in middle school.

Principal Dr. Thelma Jackson and Assistant Principal Tammy Davis gave back time while supporting Bass Temple’s Back to School Drive. Thank you to all of the families that came out to receive backpacks and school supplies.

Treasure Coast High School is proud to announce that Robert Grundstrom has been selected to receive the 2023 Gutterman Family Outstanding Holocaust Educator Award from the Arthur and Emalie Gutterman Center for Holocaust and Human Rights Education at Florida Atlantic University. At St. Lucie Public Schools we pride ourselves on our fresh, made-from-scratch meals. Each one of our schools has a dedicated chef to prepare all of our breakfasts and lunches. Last week our cooks came together to learn some of the recipes that are new on this year’s lunch menu. Not only are they talented with their cooking skills, but our cooks are also passionate about everything they do to ensure our students are fed well every day!

The Treasure Coast High School cheer squad had an excellent time at the UCA cheer camp for summer conditioning. They earned multiple recognitions, including best overall program and best school traditions. The cheerleaders also placed 2nd in best pyramid routines. TITAN BORN, TITAN BRED!

The Treasure Coast AFJROTC, POW/MIA Honor Guard was asked to travel to Chicago this past summer by the Folds of Honor National Organization for their gala held in the Aon Grand Ballroom at the Navy Pier. Folds of Honor raises money as a non-profit organization providing thousands of scholarships each year to children of wounded and fallen service members and first responders. Southern Oaks Middle School hosted its 6th-grade transition camp to throngs of parents and students. On Wednesday, July 25th, the SOMS campus hosted two well-attended sessions for welcoming incoming 6th graders and their families, one in the morning and one in the evening. Attendees were able to see the inner workings of their new school. They were also able to meet and spend intimate time with key individuals and the campus. St. Lucie Public Schools’ Office of Teaching and Learning has launched a College and Career Development Workshop Series: What Parents Need to Know.  These workshops are geared for parents of 9th-12th grade students. Weatherbee Elementary welcomed their incoming Kindergarten Mariners during a “Sailing into Kindergarten” themed event.  Parents and students met their teachers, new Principal, and other staff members.  After learning about the school’s expectations, schedules, curriculum, and much more, each student received a Take Home Learning Kit for Literacy and Math.  The students were so excited, and the parents were thankful for these free tools to help them support their children’s learning at home.  Finally, they visited their classrooms and made a sailboat craft.

During the Career Connect Conference, SLW Centennial High School student Janelle Palmer won a day with Kelley Higney, CEO of The Bug Bite Thing, a $40 million St. Lucie company that appeared on Shark Tank. Janelle took advantage of the opportunity over the summer and had the opportunity to spend the day learning firsthand about entrepreneurship and running a multi-million dollar business.

Congratulations to Titan Swim Coach Dennis Connolly for being inducted into the Maine Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame. We look forward to Coach Connolly leading our team to a fantastic swim season. TITAN BORN TITAN BRED!

Lakewood Park staff made some very special summer visits. Staff members hopped on a school bus and dropped off backpacks with summer supplies and food, as well as celebrated all students scoring a level 5! A huge shoutout to Transportation for supplying a school bus to transport our staff members, supplies, and yard signs!  Congrats to all our Falcons for their hard work this year preparing for state testing. We are so proud of you!

Sunbelt Rental recently donated 25 bins of school supplies collected by their staff members and business partners to C. A. Moore Elementary School. Thank you for your support!

Did you know that each of our school’s cafeterias has a dedicated baker to make fresh baked menu items for our students? Last week our bakers were hard at work training to ensure the highest quality products are served at each of our schools. All of our bakeries are made with whole wheat and comply with the National School Lunch Program guidelines.
