Groundbreaking Ceremony Commemorates the Construction Phase of the New Tradition “DDD” High School

It was an exciting day for the St. Lucie Public Schools community as the groundbreaking ceremony for the highly anticipated “DDD” High School took place on June 13, 2023. The event marked a significant milestone in the construction of this comprehensive high school facility, set to open its doors to students in August of 2025. 

The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including School Board Vice Chairman Debbie Hawley, School Board Member Dr. Donna Mills, School Board Member Jennifer Richardson, Superintendent Dr. Jon R. Prince, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Helen Wild, CORE Construction Vice President Ted Cava, Remnant Construction Chief Executive Officer Brandon Nobile, elected city officials, representatives from SchenkelShultz, the architect firm responsible for designing the school and the newly named Principal Todd Smith.  The event provided an opportunity to acknowledge and express gratitude to all the individuals who have worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality. 

The groundbreaking ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by Superintendent Dr. Jon R. Prince, who expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the attendees for their unwavering support and dedication. The School Board Vice Chairman, Debbie Hawley also took the stage to address the crowd, emphasizing the significance of this new institution in expanding educational opportunities for students in the Tradition area. 

Representatives from CORE Remnant Construction shared insights into the construction plans and appreciation for the collaboration and cooperation among all parties. 

The final speeches included a heartfelt expression of gratitude to all the staff members who have played a pivotal role in organizing and coordinating the event. Their dedication and hard work ensured that the ceremony was a resounding success, setting a positive tone for the school’s journey from groundbreaking to its grand opening in August 2025. 

The event concluded with a ceremonial groundbreaking signifying the official start of the construction phase of the multi-year project.
