College and Career Development Workshop Series: What Parents Need to Know

St. Lucie Public Schools’ Office of Teaching and Learning has launched a College and Career Development Workshop Series: What Parents Need to Know.  These workshops are geared for parents of 9th-12th grade students. The first workshop was held on July 18th at the SLPS District Office.  The first topic of the evening was College 101 presented by Kayleigh Nemo, District College and Career Advisor.   The second topic of the evening was Dual Enrollment 101 presented by Monica Brooks, Guidance Director at Port St. Lucie High School.  Dr. Beth Amey, IRSC Pruitt Campus Director, was in attendance to speak about Florida State Colleges and Indian River State College.

Thank you to Stacy Sommer, Guidance Director at Treasure Coast High School; Sarah Korta, School Counselor at Treasure Coast High; Nikki Poole, Coordinator of Secondary School Guidance and Advisement; and Shereka Alcidor, Student Success Coach at IRSC, for attending the workshop to answer parent questions. Future workshop invitations will be sent to all high school parents’ email addresses.
