Mosaic Digital Academy middle school students came to campus this week to learn about virtual reality. Ms. Linton and Mrs. Shovan are getting students comfortable with the new technology before diving into the mission-based lessons in Math and Science planned for this year.

LPA Girls Basketball Coach Inducted to the Southern California Basketball Hall of Fame

The administrative team surprised Coach Nicole Erickson while she was teaching her middle school physical education class.  Dr. Michelle Herrington presented Coach Erickson with a bouquet of flowers along with warm expressions to congratulate her on an amazing accomplishment. Our own LPA Girls Basketball Coach Nicole Ericson is a former Duke women’s basketball player.  She was recently selected as one of 17 individuals set to be inducted into the 2022 class of the Southern California Basketball Hall of Fame. Southern Oaks Students Inducted in Hawk Hall of Fame

  Southern Oaks continues its monthly Hall of Fame ceremony. Students are inducted into the Hawk Hall of Fame. The award ceremony takes place every month during two student-packed lunches. Students cheer and applaud their classmates who are called center stage to receive a gift, snack, and award. The induction criteria are based on a monthly theme of a positive character trait. September’s Hall of Famers are awarded for being respectful. All students receive valuable month-long lessons on the theme of respect in their science or history classes. Kinder Kiddos Learn About Johnny Appleseed with Math

The Kinder Kiddos in Mrs. Turners’ class at Windmill Point Elementary had a Johnny Appleseed Celebration!!  The students were able to taste, observe, and test different apple treats.   The students were able to chart which was their favorite type of apple and as a class, they tallied the winner. The class also did a greater than, less than, and equal to activity with the numbers!!  It was a great way to start the Fall season. s.

LPA A Team Competes at IRSC

The Lincoln Park Academic A Team did a terrific job at IRSC on September 28, 2023.   There were 8 teams from different high schools and one team from IRSC. The team beat the IRSC team and came in 3rd out of 8! We are extremely proud of this group of young people and how they demonstrated their exceptional abilities and teamwork!  Go Greyhounds!    

Dan McCarty AVID Program in Action

This year Dan McCarty has become an AVID(Advancement Via Individual Determination) school. This designation allows for our sixth graders to learn about college and career readiness! Our first activity to expose students to different careers, started today with Retired Officer and current IRSC Professor, Chris Fulcher! Mr.Fulcher alongside Officer Stephens teamed up to discuss career opportunities in law enforcement and crime scene investigation! Students at Treasure Coast High School in Mr. Buring’s Global Logistics Operations class used and reviewed warehouse handling equipment such as an electric pallet jack and a simulation forklift. Bayshore Elementary 5th Grade Hamburger Wars

Our 5th graders started and completed a Hamburger War. They used a Hamburger War template to put their writing skills to the test. The 3 class periods on Mrs. Enoch’s side battled the 3 class periods on Mrs. Pank’s side. They created an essay as a class based on unique prompts assigned to each class period. As a class they planned, wrote, color-coded, and revised their essay. Students followed Top Score writing guidelines to ensure that they had written an exceptional expository non-text-based essay. SLPS Student Recieves FPRA Youth of the Year Award

Molly Grow, a 7th grader at the Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST), was honored by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Treasure Coast Chapter as their “Youth of the Year.” Molly is the chapter’s only student member and has been involved in many community projects and has even led her own fundraising event. Her contributions were recognized at the FPRA Annual Board Installation and Award Luncheon on September 21 at Indian River State College. TCHS Recognizes Heroes

Students in Mrs. Rodriguez’s class created a 9/11 Heroes Day Tribute. Treasure Coast High School recognized Officer Rodriguez and Officer Sisto for their heroic acts on 9/11 and subsequent weeks after as they were first responders for the NYPD.  Officer Rodriguez and Officer Sisto shared some words with the students. College Board has granted national recognition to several of  Lincoln Park Academy’s High School students.  These students are being recognized because of their high grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT and or Advanced Placement Exams. FPC Creative Photo Students Using the Elements of Art in the Elements

Mrs. Minden’s Creative Photography students are working on the Element of Art, Shape in Photography. In their lesson, the students have been instructed to use people as their subjects and to “think outside the box.” The students enjoy working outside using their creativity to meet the requirements of the assignment. Each student is responsible for orchestrating their subjects to create the perfect shape for their photo composition.
