CAM Students Celebrate Literacy Week with Book Buddies

Mrs. Bueno and Ms. Vazquez joined together for book buddies. Second-graders in Mrs. Bueno’s class did a wonderful job reading and showing the Kindergarteners in Ms. Vazquez’s class how to read! When students come together to lift each other up we can continue to soar to new heights!

Scott Nicks, 8th grade science teacher at Samuel S. Gaines Academy has been nominated as a Nearpod Educator of the Year Finalist! LPA Students Compete at the HOSA Winter Regional Conference

The Lincoln Park Academy HOSA competition team traveled to their first HOSA Competition on 01/25/2024 for the Treasure Coast Regional Winter Leadership Competition in West Palm Beach. Students Camille Anoos, Nachbi Pierre, and Payton Norkus all competed. Payton and Camille competed in Medical Terminology and Nachbi competed in Cultural Diversities and Disparities. The students had a wonderful experience being able to network and learn more about HOSA from different schools within the region. Oak Hammock K8 Students Participate in the Science Fair

At Oak Hammock K8 we are proud of our 6th through 8th grade STEM Fair winners & Regional STEM Fair qualifiers. We are so amazed at their creativity and the hard work our students put into their projects this year. Some of the winning projects are electricity produced by fruit, an automatic plant watering system, a cleaning robot, and Pen vs Pixel (AI). We are so incredibly proud of our students who Level Up Learning, Level Up Success!

Palm Pointe First-Graders Moving with Math

Mrs. Migliore’s first-grade class at Palm Pointe took advantage of the beautiful Florida weather! They used their knowledge of 2 digit numbers to plot them on an empty number line. This led to great discussions on comparing numbers and using terms like greater than and less than! What a great day!!

Village Green’s Literacy Week

Village Green Elementary School had some special guest readers this week! Thank you to the Port St. Lucie Fire Department and Police Department for taking time out of their busy schedules to read to our students this week. Our students enjoyed their time with all of the volunteers who visited their classrooms and read to them. Our students also got to enjoy the nice weather and read outside with their friends throughout Literacy Week!

Floresta’s Everglades Themed Literacy Week

Floresta’s fifth-grade students learned how habitat loss is one of the most critical issues facing wildlife.  The students became Florida panthers, white-tailed deer, and motor vehicles in a tag-like game to simulate the disappearance of the Everglades habitat. This lesson was completed as part of the school’s effort to become an Everglades Champion School during their Everglades Themed Literacy Week.

Morningside Student Council Makes a Difference

Morningside Elementary student council regularly goes out of their way to spread kindness to their peers. They worked collaboratively to create colorful posters that were displayed throughout the school that reminded others to choose kindness. Posters were displayed as part of our week of kindness initiatives. Students are led by Morningside’s Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Panaccione.

TCHS FBLA Advances to States

The Treasure Coast High School FBLA members and officers recently participated in the FBLA regional competition. This is the 8th year that our FBLA team has competed in this competition and each year, TCHS students move forward to the State Competition. Congratulations Titans and we are so proud of you! Race to the Finish with Text Features

At St. Lucie West K8, students in Ms. Paries’ third-grade class competed in a race all about text features. Using an informational article about technologies for hearing-impaired students, they used text features to answer questions and race to the finish!  

Dream, Believe, Achieve!

St. Lucie West K8 Sharks collaborated to create an outstanding float for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. This year’s theme was Dream, Believe, Achieve. Thank you to all the dedicated staff and students who made this incredible vision come to life!

FGMS: In Mrs. Proctor’s Class, Learning Math is Sweet!

At Forest Grove Middle School, Mrs. Proctors’ 6th grade math classes had an exciting day, filled with learning fun. Students were practicing ratios with Skittles! Students sorted their skittles by color, compared part to part and part to whole, and wrote the ratios three different ways! The students were ecstatic to learn about ratios in a new way!  

SLW Centennial Navy JROTC participates in NOVA Brain Brawl.

The SLW Centennial High School’s NJROTC Navy Eagles “Black Talon” Academic Team traveled to Nova High School in Davie, Florida on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 to participate in their Nova “Brain Brawl” Academic Challenge.  The Academic Team competed against 15 other NJROTC units from South Florida in a “Jeopardy” type academic competition.  Each unit’s team consists of four members and they compete against three other teams at the same time.  So sixteen students are listening and “buzzing” in to answer questions during a 10 to 15-minute round. Florida’s New Worlds Reading Initiative is Presented during Family Engagement Night at Oak Hammock K8

Oak Hammock K-8 school partnered with Florida’s New Worlds Reading Initiative to provide Kindergarten through fifth-grade families with free books and activities to Level Up reading skills. New Worlds Reading was developed by the Florida legislature to enhance at home reading development and engage families in fostering early reading to increase student success. The program generously provided Chick-fil-A to fill our families’ bellies, and free books and activities to fill their hearts and minds!
