SLPS Nearpod Educator of the Year Finalist

Scott Nicks, 8th grade science teacher at Samuel S. Gaines Academy has been nominated as a Nearpod Educator of the Year Finalist! His daily use of Nearpod has not only made learning more engaging and accessible for his students but has also significantly boosted science testing scores across multiple schools in the district. Scott has proven that successful Nearpod implementation can lead to top results on district and state assessments. He thrives as an educator and leader among his peers through his ability to guide others on their journey toward success using the many features of Nearpod.

Scott is a beacon of support and inspiration to his colleagues. He’s shared his extensive knowledge and innovative approaches by leading professional development sessions for both Nearpod beginners just getting started with pre-made lessons, and advanced Nearpod users building their own lessons and incorporating all the activities Nearpod has to offer. A strong advocate for using Nearpod to empower ALL learners to reach their full potential, Scott also focuses on specialized settings such as self-contained ASD (autism spectrum disorder) classrooms, as well as spaces to support ELL students.

His comprehensive use of Nearpod’s features and his contribution to the school and district libraries exemplify his status as a Nearpod North Star.
