 WLX Horizon is the school district’s TV channel that provides St. Lucie County with instructional television programming, school board meetings, along with what’s happening in our district, and local shows about our schools.

WLX Horizon can be streamed on-demand for free via the WLX Horizon app! WLX Horizon can also be found on Comcast channel 13 (Ft. Pierce), Comcast channel 19 (Port St. Lucie), Blue Stream Fiber channel 19, and AT&T TV channel 99 (under St. Lucie County Community Channels) or check out the live feed.

Throughout the history of the world, great teachers have inspired, persuaded, and motivated students. The goal of the St. Lucie Public School Teacher of the Year program is to recognize and celebrate the wealth of excellent teachers that exist across the District.  

All of us recall a certain teacher, a very special someone who inspired us to learn.  All of us have sat in the classrooms of many great teachers.  Regardless of their fields of study, they are all visionaries who lead by exampleshare wisdom, advocate for students, inspire others to join the profession, and whose actions transform lives. 

The St. Lucie Public School Teacher of the Year began 43 years ago and is meant to be one that celebrates and honors inspiring teachers and recognizes the importance of teaching.   

Every day, we along with a hundred million parents entrust our children with teachers.  They instruct, guide, coach, and inspire them to fulfill their greatest potential.  This program presents some extraordinary men and women whose timeless wisdom echoes the integrity, strength, character, and passion of educators all across our District and our nation. This program is a tribute to and for teachers and celebrates the special, and often heroic, role they play in the lives of students.  This program is in our small way an opportunity to say “thank you” to those who educate, encourage, empower, and inspire the students of our world.  Our robust program is designed to bring national attention to the importance of excellence in teaching and celebrate the talents and commitment of these extraordinary teachers.  Let’s meet them now.

 Fort Pierce Westwood Academy: The WEST Prep Magnet’s Groundbreaking was held on January 19th next to the current location of Fort Pierce Westwood Academy: The WEST Prep Magnet.

The new school is scheduled to open January 2026!
