Village Green Environmental Studies School hosted a super fun pep rally to encourage students to try their best during testing season! Our amazing 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade teachers went above and beyond to celebrate our students’ hard work as we gear up for our last FAST testing of the school year. To cheer them on, we hosted a spirited Race to Success event—and let’s just say, it was full of smiles, cheers, and Manatee fun! SLW Centennial High School is celebrating a remarkable achievement by Mrs. McGriff-Bray’s English class. At the St. Lucie County Annex building, the Student Perks Coffee Cart is more than just a morning pick-me-up—it’s a hands-on learning experience for Fort Pierce Central High School students in the ESE program, shares Mrs. Jeannette Baechle, Varying Exceptionalities teacher at FPC. Through this program, students gain valuable employment skills, including inventory management, food safety, customer service, and money handling. Palm Pointe third graders came in representing various idioms! An idiom is a phrase or expression whose meaning is not from the literal form of its words.  Students and staff were buzzing with excitement over the many creative ways they represented their idioms!  This was a part of their intentional review of the Figurative Language Skills they have learned in class.  Everyone had a blast throughout the school day figuring out what each student’s real-life representation meant as an idiom.  Our Rockets are working hard towards showing what they know and how much they have accomplished this school year.

Fifth-grade students in Mrs. Williams’ homeroom at Morningside Elementary had an exciting opportunity to learn about force and motion through a hands-on science unit. The students built and launched their very own rockets, experiencing how different forces affect movement. This engaging activity helped students understand scientific concepts in a fun and interactive way. They were able to see firsthand how thrust, gravity, and air resistance work together during the rocket launches. In an effort to ensure students are well-prepared for the upcoming FAST exams in Algebra and Geometry, SLW Centennial organized a math boot camp on a recent Saturday morning. The event saw an impressive turnout of students eager to enhance their mathematical skills and boost their confidence ahead of the assessments. The boot camp featured a comprehensive support team, including a district trainer, the school’s math coach, several teachers, and tutors. The Fort Pierce Central High School Wind Ensemble recently achieved a remarkable milestone, earning a Superior rating at the 2025 State Music Performance Assessment held on Friday, May 2nd. School Bus Driver Appreciation Day is observed annually on the fourth Tuesday of April.  This year it was Tuesday, April 22nd! Southport Middle School bus drivers were welcomed with wholesome breakfast treats and a beverage when dropping the students off in the morning. Students also made handwritten cards for the bus drivers expressing their gratitude and appreciation because a little ‘thank you’ goes miles. The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion recently experienced an extraordinary trip to Aquatica and SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, from April 25th through April 27th, 2025. This adventure served as a well-deserved reward for the hard work and dedication demonstrated by our cadets throughout the year. The trip package included admission to both parks, all-day dining, hotel accommodations, transportation, and breakfast. On the first day, the cadets enjoyed a full day of waterpark fun at Aquatica. Saturday, April 26, Ceramics III Honors and AICE Art & Design students were invited to participate in Raku Firing at the Indian River Clay Studio (IRCS) in Vero Beach. At 9am, the heat was turned on, and the outdoor Raku kiln was warming up. Students received a tour of the kiln room, clay and glazes preparation area, studio space, and workshop. Students premade their artwork at FPC’s ceramics studio, did a bisque fire, and coated their artwork with specialized Raku glazes.
