A big “Congratulations!” goes out to the (32) Cadets from our Army JROTC Program who were formally recognized at the annual End of the Year Awards Ceremony on April 9th. First, second, third, and fourth-year Cadets alike were presented with both leadership and academic awards, while others were promoted up in the ranks, for their recent efforts on the semi-annual promotion board. Manatee Academy K-8 recently unveiled an exciting new addition to its campus—a book vending machine designed to promote literacy and reward academic success. The brightly colored machine, filled with a wide range of engaging and age-appropriate books, will serve as an incentive for students who excel in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), i-Ready progress, and academic performance. Southport Middle School Drama was proud to present Disney’s The Aristocats Kids this past Thursday, April 24th. Working cooperatively with Port St. Lucie High School Drama, alumni returned to Southport to student direct this classic Disney musical, which was met with overwhelming praise and joy by an audience of students, families, and friends. Palm Pointe Kindergarten students were thrilled to take a field trip to The Fresh Market in Tradition.  Students, chaperones, and teachers walked safely down the street to get a hands-on experience following one of our Play With Purpose themes.    Our students loved touring the grocery store, sampling snacks,  and learning about what it takes to maintain a business that provides for the community.  This real world experience was enjoyed by all.  The Market staff was so inviting, and the students were attentive and engaged.  We want to thank the store manager, Michael Gillespie, for helping make this field trip … Read More

Students from the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Spanish Honors Society joined forces on Saturday, April 19th, to celebrate Earth Day with a significant cleanup initiative at Stuart Beach. Morningside Elementary recently showcased their talents by sending three teams to the Odyssey of the Mind State Competition, demonstrating remarkable creativity and teamwork. Third grade students at St. Lucie West K8 enjoy super sweet learning in Mrs. Quiles’s Class! Topic 12 is all about graphs and data, and what better way to make it fun than with jellybeans? Students got hands-on with learning by collecting data from jellybeans (yum!), then used that information to create tally charts and scaled bar graphs. From determining appropriate scales to solving one- and two-step problems based on their graphs, our students are turning data into delicious discoveries! Learning is always meaningful—and extra fun—when it’s interactive and student-centered.
