3rd Graders at Lawnwood Elementary Use Manipulatives in Math

Students in Miss Curley’s third-grade class used place value blocks to model and solve 9×30 by building groups of tens. First, they represented 30 as three tens. Then they created nine equal groups to match the 9 in the problem, laying out three tens in each group. As students combined and counted the blocks, they saw that 9 groups of 3 tens equals 27 tens. They recorded this as 27 tens = 270, making the connection from concrete manipulatives to the written equation. 3rd Annual Shop with a Titan Event a Success!

Last week the Treasure Coast Titan Ambassadors hosted their 3rd Annual Shop with a Titan event at Target in Tradition. This year the Ambassadors raised over $3,000 and took almost 30 St. Lucie Public School students holiday shopping.

3rd Annual Kim Pearson Memorial Beach Clean-Up

On Sunday, February 6th from 1:00-3:00 pm, the 3rd Annual Kim Pearson Memorial Beach Clean-up at Pepper Park Beach took place. This is was to honor beloved Ft. Pierce Central High School Marine Biology Teacher Kimberly Pearson. As a marine science teacher, Ms. Pearson loved the ocean and was concerned about the human toll on ocean sustainability. This beach clean-up represents her passion in life, serving students and caretaking for the ocean. 3rd Annual HBCU/HSI College Fair

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) continues to bring opportunities to students for college and career success. On January 24, the school district hosted 18 historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and Hispanic serving institutions (HSI) at the 3rd Annual HBCU/HSI College Fair. 3D Printing Tops at St. Lucie West K8

St. Lucie West K8 middle school students in Mrs. Boham’s STEAM class tried their hand at 3D pens to create tops. Students applied geometric principles to create circles. They divided them into equal parts to create a balanced top to win a spin-off. Students were able to overcome the learning curve by not only using the pens, but finding the right pacing, and finding what surfaces the filament sticks best release from. Graphic designers develop and create designs for a variety of media including print publications, websites, and computer animation projects. Motion picture, computer, and video game companies also employ 3D animators and graphic designers due to increasing demand for high-quality visual effects, interactive media, and multi-player gaming solutions. 37th Annual St. Lucie County STEM Fair

On February 7th, 2025, 120 talented students from St. Lucie Public Schools, spanning grades 6-12, showcased their skills at the 37th Annual St. Lucie County Regional STEM Fair held at Indian River State College. These exceptional young minds engaged in insightful interviews with esteemed judges from our community throughout the morning. 36th Annual St. Lucie County Regional STEM Fair and Award Ceremony

On February 16th, 2024, 180 students competed in the 36th annual St. Lucie County Regional STEM fair at Indian River State College. These grade 6-12 students represented 21 schools in St. Lucie County. The competition was split into two divisions, junior and senior, with 13 categories in each division. Students were interviewed by community judges from organizations such as IRSC, USDA, City of Port St. Lucie, UF/IFAS and many more. 34th Annual St. Lucie County Regional STEM Fair

CAST eighth-graders in Mr. Barnes’ class rocked the science fair held at Indian River State College. Their experiments ranged from fertilizer comparisons, hydraulic can dispensers, ice insulators, and natural oil products for hair to just name a few! Eighth-grade students Hannah Rios and Lauryn Rodriguez were awarded 2nd place in their category as well as the Cleveland Clinic Biomedical Award for their outstanding Biomedical project. Sidonie Gordon-Tucker and Amaya Ethridge received 2nd place awards in the Plant category, while Allison Buchmeyer and Marcella Gardini-DaSilva received a special award from SAAVAS Realize for their project in environmental science.

30th Anniversary at PSLHS

On Friday October 12, 2018, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguars had their homecoming game against the Pompano Beach High School Golden Tornados. It was the 30th Anniversary of our school, and alumni came back to support and watch the game. Our homecoming game is the most popular football game of the season, so we had more cadets work this event.  Cadet Captain Hunter Payne oversaw visitor parking. 2nd Annual Culinary Cook-Off

The 2nd Annual Student Culinary Cook-Off is a collaboration between Child Nutrition Services and the Career and Technical Education Culinary Arts Program. The purpose of the event is to provide student chefs with the opportunity to create and showcase enticing entrees that their peers would enjoy while following the USDA guidelines for the National School Lunch Program. This year’s champion team is St. Lucie West Centennial High School.  Their winning entree, Braised BBQ Pork Flatbread, will be placed on the school lunch menu for the 2019-2020 school year.

Local American Cancer Society chapter presents appreciation to school district

It is with deep gratitude that we announce the retirement of Mrs. Ela Coffer, who has dedicated 26 remarkable years of service to our district. As our Spanish III and AICE Spanish teacher, Ms. Coffer has made an indelible impact on countless students and colleagues.
