Jake Sciscente was crowned State Champion in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke and Lincoln Park Academy’s Boys Swim Team placed 9th at the FHSAA State Championships.  The state team included Sterling Carr, Kaleb Cason, Noah DiBernardo, Grayson DiBernardo, Jake Sciscente, Dillon Spooner, and Spence Wagner.

Morningside Elementary fourth grade team in collaboration with Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful taught students about the importance of recycling through a novel study unit. KPSLB donated 100 copies of “Garbage Island” by Fred Koehler. Students read all 39 thrilling chapters packed with action and impressive vocabulary. To reward their hard work, the fourth grade teachers reverse tie-dyed recycling T-shirts. Lincoln Park Academy is pleased to announce that Giselle Arana Cisneros, a 7th-grade orchestra student, has been chosen to participate in the Florida Orchestra Association All State Orchestra on violin. She completed the audition virtually in October. Ms. Laura Hopkins is her orchestra director at LPA, and is very proud of her accomplishments. Giselle has loved music since she young. Oak Hammock K-8 seventh-grade students (Owls), under the direction of Ms. Garcia, created a bulletin board for the month of November, using the Social-Emotional Learning theme of Diversity and Inclusion. The students were asked to create a display of what diversity and inclusion meant to them. Each student created a unique fingerprint pattern to express their uniqueness and individuality. Throughout the month, the students are learning that being accepting of diversity teaches them how to respect and celebrate people’s differences and that they are all more alike than they are different.

On Saturday, November 7th, 2020, the JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Raider Team hosted a Raider competition at Port Saint Lucie High School. Our mixed team, male team, and female team competed in each of five events: Relay Race, Fitness Challenge, Rope Bridge, Tire Flip, and a mile of Cross-Country Rescue. Despite the pandemic, the WEST Prep class of 2021 took a class picture. While maintaining safe social distancing, Brick and Mortar and MySchool students were able to connect and capture a memory for their senior year.  It is more important, now more than ever, to promote social connections.

Students at Village Green took part in Anti Bullying Week by promoting positive anti-bullying messages with a poster contest and participating in a wide range of anti-bullying programs coordinated by school counselor, Nicole Jakubiak. This year’s St. Lucie West K-8 School’s Vocabulary Parade was better than ever! Each student was given a word from the academic vocabulary list and created a Frayer Model in the classroom in which they were able to define and use the word in a sentence correctly. Fifth-graders at CAST practiced playing some spooky Halloween music during their Fine Arts classes in October. In Dr. Irwin’s music class, students played hand drums, tambourines, triangles, and claves along with the Silly Symphony Skeleton dance. On Friday, October 30, 2020, the Port St. Lucie Jaguar Battalion held its first honor guard to help with the Port St. Luce High School’s homecoming game against Martin County High School. Many cadets showed up to help work the honor guard, resulting in the parking detail working to get cars where they needed to be smoothly and proficiently.
