Southern Oaks continues its monthly Hall of Fame ceremony. Students are inducted into the Hawk Hall of Fame. The award ceremony takes place every month during two student-packed lunches. Students cheer and applaud their classmates who are called center stage to receive a gift, snack, and award. The induction criteria are based on a monthly theme of a positive character trait. September’s Hall of Famers are awarded for being respectful. All students receive valuable month-long lessons on the theme of respect in their science or history classes. The Kinder Kiddos in Mrs. Turners’ class at Windmill Point Elementary had a Johnny Appleseed Celebration!!  The students were able to taste, observe, and test different apple treats.   The students were able to chart which was their favorite type of apple and as a class, they tallied the winner. The class also did a greater than, less than, and equal to activity with the numbers!!  It was a great way to start the Fall season. s.

The Lincoln Park Academic A Team did a terrific job at IRSC on September 28, 2023.   There were 8 teams from different high schools and one team from IRSC. The team beat the IRSC team and came in 3rd out of 8! We are extremely proud of this group of young people and how they demonstrated their exceptional abilities and teamwork!  Go Greyhounds!    

This year Dan McCarty has become an AVID(Advancement Via Individual Determination) school. This designation allows for our sixth graders to learn about college and career readiness! Our first activity to expose students to different careers, started today with Retired Officer and current IRSC Professor, Chris Fulcher! Mr.Fulcher alongside Officer Stephens teamed up to discuss career opportunities in law enforcement and crime scene investigation! Students at Treasure Coast High School in Mr. Buring’s Global Logistics Operations class used and reviewed warehouse handling equipment such as an electric pallet jack and a simulation forklift. Our 5th graders started and completed a Hamburger War. They used a Hamburger War template to put their writing skills to the test. The 3 class periods on Mrs. Enoch’s side battled the 3 class periods on Mrs. Pank’s side. They created an essay as a class based on unique prompts assigned to each class period. As a class they planned, wrote, color-coded, and revised their essay. Students followed Top Score writing guidelines to ensure that they had written an exceptional expository non-text-based essay. Molly Grow, a 7th grader at the Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST), was honored by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Treasure Coast Chapter as their “Youth of the Year.” Molly is the chapter’s only student member and has been involved in many community projects and has even led her own fundraising event. Lincoln Park Academy’s National Junior Honor Society students are eager, wide-eyed students ready to embark on a journey of leadership, service, and academic excellence. Students gathered to learn, connect, and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead, as they take their first steps towards becoming the future leaders of their community and beyond.      

Students in Mrs. Rodriguez’s class created a 9/11 Heroes Day Tribute. Treasure Coast High School recognized Officer Rodriguez and Officer Sisto for their heroic acts on 9/11 and subsequent weeks after as they were first responders for the NYPD.  Officer Rodriguez and Officer Sisto shared some words with the students. Congratulations to the SLW Centennial NJROTC cadets who participated and passed the Annual Military Review Inspection. Congratulations to Lt. Aponte, the NJROTC instructor, for properly preparing the cadets and leading them to success.

Mrs. Archer’s class loves literacy centers! We have been busy learning letters, letter sounds, and initial sounds while working together in centers!

College Board has granted national recognition to several of  Lincoln Park Academy’s High School students.  These students are being recognized because of their high grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT and or Advanced Placement Exams. Mrs. Minden’s Creative Photography students are working on the Element of Art, Shape in Photography. In their lesson, the students have been instructed to use people as their subjects and to “think outside the box.” The students enjoy working outside using their creativity to meet the requirements of the assignment. Each student is responsible for orchestrating their subjects to create the perfect shape for their photo composition.

Rehearsal is underway for Treasure Coast High School’s Titan Theatre Production of Puffs or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic. Puffs tells the story of an orphan boy Wayne Hopkins, played by Ricky Corbo, who finds out he is a wizard and the seven eventful years following his acceptance to a certain magic school in England. Filled with laughs and fun, this show is suitable for all ages! We hope to see you at Treasure Coast High School on October 27th, 28th, and 29th. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Port St. Lucie High School seniors took advantage of meeting with the office of admission representatives from the University of Florida and Mitchell College. Seniors received all the information to submit their college applications to beat the priority admissions deadlines.

Cobra Nation had another great week, especially in the 9th grade. Students had the opportunity to receive valuable information from IRSC’s Take Stock in Children on scholarship opportunities awarded to freshmen as they meet qualifications. Also, we wrapped up the topic “Building a Rapport with Teachers.” Ms. Brown’s students asked thoughtful questions to our amazing guests, who were able to provide valuable input, experience, and feedback.
