The Treasure Coast High School Future Business Leaders of America had an awesome day in the sun on Saturday, October 28th at Jensen Beach. ‘Pandemonium’ Steel Band represented St. Lucie Public Schools at the Fall Fun Fest on Saturday, October 28th held at the Mid-Florida Event Center. Members of the band were joined by recent alumni who are current music majors. They played various genres ranging from Caribbean, Blues, Swing, Latin, and Funk. Thank you to The Port Saint Lucie Downtown Lions Club for their generous donation which served to support our students traveling to New York City in April 2024.
During Bullying Prevention Month, the Cafeteria and Maintenance staff Leveled Up and showed their support for the “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” initiative by showing how colorful friendship can be. The colors are a representation of how you can be surrounded by people who are different while realizing the value that each one brings to the pack. In their different roles of creating nutritious meals and providing a clean and safe environment, they help the students Level Up Learning, Level Up Success!

Lawnwood Leopards participated in a Vocabulary Parade! This vocabulary parade was inspired by a book called Miss Alaineus. The purpose of the parade is to help students learn interesting words and share their meanings and connections with others. This K-5 vocabulary parade was a hit! GO LEOPARDS!

October 31st culminates National Bullying Prevention Month. To showcase the many students that go above and beyond to “be a buddy, not a bully”, we launched our “Level Up, Buddy Up” student initiative. Teachers were on the lookout for students who they witnessed being kind, helpful, or upstanding towards a fellow student. Students were recognized by having their picture taken and displayed on the “Buddy Up, Level Up Wall of Fame“, and their names were entered into a drawing to win a prize. Students at Oak Hammock K8 continue to Level Up!
On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Fort Pierce Central High School senior Aristhene Thelisnort and his IRSC partner Justin Stolaj won first place in the Sunshine Kitchen Cook-off sponsored by the Treasure Coast Education and Research Development Authority. Both students won a 1,500-dollar scholarship to be used to further their education. The winning dish was a Panko-crusted Tuscan chicken roulade with a tomato cream sauce, French pureed garlic potatoes, and sautéed broccoli with diced carrots. Congratulations Aristhene and Justin!

HOCO as we now know it, or homecoming for many of us nostalgic types reading this, is one of the fall’s most celebrated times in high school. At FPC, moments like the HOCO dance make memories to last beyond a season or year, even beyond high school. Homecoming is a time for union, reunion, and warm receptions. The Fort Pierce Central Medical Academy partnered with One Blood to host a blood drive on Thursday, October 26, in the FPC auditorium. Mrs. Saulnier’s 1st grade class learned about data points and frequency by charting their favorite pie. Students sampled pumpkin pie, apple pie, and cherry pie. Then students plotted their data points on a picture graph. Students also represented their data with tally marks and compared different types of pie using data!
