With over 5,000 employees, St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) was recognized as one of St. Lucie County’s Best Places to Work. This is the seventh year in a row that the School District has received this honor in the “Extra Large Employer” (over 500 employees) category.
Winning the distinction of Best Places to Work for the District was determined by several factors including; a low employee turnover rate and a 96% teacher retention rate, salary increases which resulted in over 900 employees receiving an average raise of 16.1%, a 99% fill rate on the first day of school for teaching and support positions, the introduction of a streamlined “one-stop-shop” hiring experience that condensed the application process, interviewing, fingerprinting, and drug testing during one event, and finally the passing of the referendum which supported the District’s ability to provide salary increases to educators.
