Lincoln Park Academy’s IB Student Committee delivered gifts to C.A. Moore’s Kindergarten and 1st-grade students through the Winter Wishes program. LPA students, staff, and families donated over 100 gifts to C.A. Moore. On the day, IB students visited C.A. Moore dressed as Santa and his elves, spending time in each classroom, playing games and opening presents. They took time to spread Christmas cheer and warmth.
Disney’s Lion King, Jr. premieres at Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST) January 18 & 19, and 25 & 26 in the historic auditorium. This production is full collaboration of all middle school fine arts including dance, drama, music, visual arts, digital arts and TV production. With over 80 cast members, this is one show you will not want to miss and fun for all ages. Creative Arts Academy is located on 1100 Delaware Ave., Fort Pierce. An Art Club has been created by teachers at Village Green to allow elementary students to tap into their creative sides! Students who have an interest in art now have an opportunity to explore arts and crafts beyond what is offered in the curriculum. VGE students are having a blast expressing themselves in different ways!
At Morningside Elementary, students in Mrs. Moore’s Fourth Grade AMP (Advanced Mathematical Program) class were engaged in graphing on a coordinate grid as they incorporated the four principles of flight (thrust, drag, weight, and lift) in their learning. Students have the goal of “rescuing the stranded hiker” at the top of the grid mountain. They had to apply these principles to rescue the climber without crashing into the mountain. All students worked cooperatively to apply their learning in order to achieve this goal. Students are encouraged to explore interests such as the principles of flight throughout their learning.
The staff from the Children’s Home Society “Teen Life Choices” visited Mrs. Wester’s early childhood classes and had the students try on an “Empathy Belly”, which allows the students to feel like they are 9 months pregnant. The students walked around the classroom, tried to tie their shoes, tried lying down and getting up, and bending down to pick up toys on the floor. After wearing this for five minutes the students were exhausted and ready to take it off. On Friday, December 19th, 2023, the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Marksmanship Team competed at Santaluces High School for the Area 3 Air Rifle Match. Our cadets: First Lieutenant Yurem Garcia, Private First class Briannna Locklar, Corporal James White, and Private Kohl Aguilar competed against twelve other schools from three counties and overall placed 4th. Sadly, since the marksmanship team won’t be competing in the states rifle meet, the marksmanship season is over till next year. Thank you to our marksmen and our supportive parents.
Miss Emily and Mr. Johnny from the Oxbow Center presented an engaging and interactive program focusing on animal adaptations titled “Wildlife Friends and Foes”. 3rd grade students learned about special visitors including Miss Summer the Box Turtle.
The PBIS Committee hosted a festive winter carnival for Shark Nation! Students had the opportunity to use the shark bucks they had earned to attend this bright and merry event. The carnival had everything from bounce houses, face painting, snacks, and games. What an amazing way to kick off winter break!

As a part of our school’s PBIS or Positive Behavior Intervention School initiatives, teachers gave out tickets to students exhibiting positive choices and behaviors on campus. In recognition, these students enjoyed yummy Cobra Cafe hot chocolate from Santa and his elves in the Culinary Arts Program.
Lawnwood Elementary teachers hosted parent conference night. Students shared their academic goals and progress monitoring data with their families. Teachers provided an action plan for each individual student and reminded parents of the grade level expectations. A huge thank you goes out to the Lawnwood teachers for coordinating this event and to our Lawnwood families for attending. GO LEOPARDS!

Ruby Isenhower, a second-grade student at Oak Hammock K8, won the Port St. Lucie “Name the Street Sweeper” contest. Ruby was one of many students who submitted a name. The name that she submitted was “Sweep Caroline”, based on the song Sweet Caroline that was written by Neil Diamond. City Council Members, along with Kona Ice, recognized Ruby by rewarding her whole class with a Kona Ice party at school. Bayshore Elementary is a “B” school! On December 11, 2023, the State of Florida released school grades for the 2022-2023 school year. Bayshore is one of five schools in St. Lucie County that increased one letter grade. Congratulations to our students, teachers, and staff. We are extremely proud of the determination and dedication of our students and staff! As we head into 2024, we will continue to provide quality instruction while building meaningful relationships with students and families. Bayshore is planting seeds of success and cultivating greatness!
Village Green Elementary School’s PBIS Committee hosted a “Pancakes with Santa” breakfast for students and their families. Our Village Green community was able to spend a morning with Santa and his special elf while enjoying a delicious breakfast and fun Christmas crafts. It was a magical and festive morning!
St. Lucie Public Schools will hold their annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions College Fair at the Havert L. Fenn Center on January 25, 2024. A group of our 9th-grade students took a research cruise with FIU Harbor Branch Scientists to study the Indian River Lagoon aboard their research vessel. Students tested water quality and biodiversity in the lagoon. They used the ROV to see what was happening at the bottom! After the cruise, we went to the visitor center to see what is happening with Aquaculture at FIU Harbor Branch and their captive breeding program for saltwater aquarium fish. Many people don’t know that Harbor Branch has the largest breeding program in the country for saltwater aquariums!
