Congratulations to all the winners!
At Lincoln Park Academy, students of NJHS eagerly gathered for a special presentation by St. Lucie County Sheriffs on drug prevention. Officers spoke about the dangers of drugs and the importance of positive choices. The highlight was the K-9 demonstration, showcasing dogs’ skills in detecting drugs, apprehending suspects, and obedience commands. Students gained insights into law enforcement’s role in community safety, leaving them inspired to make healthy choices and be positive in! 🚓🐾 #NJHS #CommunityEducation
SLWK8 students had a blast at PBIS Field Day! Our sharks worked in teams to compete in several activities, including Tug of War, Water Sponge Relay, Hula Hoop Race, Basketball Dunk, Ball Bounce, and Water Balloon Toss!
Huge praise goes out to the (18) Cadets from our Army JROTC Program who attended the annual JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp at the Tanah Keeta Scout Reservation in Jupiter from 17-20 FEB. Over (250) Cadets from multiple Treasure Coast High Schools converged on the Camp for (4) days of rigorous training and team-building exercises to help them become tougher and more efficient leaders. Families had a great time at Savanna Ridge Elementary for Literacy Empowerment Night. Families learned of different resources available to support literacy at home and enjoyed a great dinner by Texas Road House!
SLWK8 earned the Aim for 100 Award for our percentage of increase in attendance on 12/21/23 from last year’s early release the day before winter break. The team was honored at the school board meeting and received a banner. Congratulations, Shark Nation!
On Friday, February 23rd, Mosaic Digital Academy elementary students took a “Trip Through Space” in the Hallstrom Planetarium at IRSC. Professor Jon Bell led students through our solar system and beyond, giving them the opportunity to learn about the sun, moon, and planets; understand black holes and how stars are formed; and explore the Milky Way. Students even had the opportunity to hold a 26-pound space rock!
On Saturday, February 17th, Centennial student Haley Nathan sang the national anthem at the PSL National Little League baseball opening day. Haley is a junior and is in our Chorus program at Centennial. Great job Haley!
A PBIS Event With over 30 student organizations, teams, clubs, and class groups participating, Cobra Nation came together for free activities and refreshments for purchase. From refreshing flavored lemonade from the Gardening Club to National Art Honor Society’s crave-worthy chicken wings, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, cupcakes, pancakes, fruit cups, chips, and hot dogs, students purchased tickets to exchange for their favorite treat. Beyond food, students could purchase tickets for the dunk tank to dunk a dean or assistant principal as well as the obstacle course. Sweet Magnet School is pleased to welcome Mrs. Gertrude Walker to speak with fifth-grade student Asja’nice Lewis, about her experiences as the Supervisor of Elections. Asja’nice is preparing for the African American History Gallery Walk honoring local influential history makers. Mrs. Walker has served as the first African American Supervisor of Elections for St. Lucie County for 36 years. What an accomplishment!
Northport’s Culinary Arts program students catered the Citizen Summit the first Saturday of February which kicked off CTE Month! They held after-school cooking sessions to prepare for the event. Select students attended Saturday’s event with Mrs. Tredor, Mrs. Butterworth, Mrs. Sharrah, and Mrs. Bailey where they plated and served over 700 food samples to the public citizens attending the event. A big thank you also goes out to Mr. McDonald who stayed late with us to offer his expertise as well.
St. Lucie West Centennial Transition Students go to Burlington in Tradition to learn job skills through performing tasks. They are learning various job skills necessary to be employed when they leave school. We are proud of our Eagles!
Lincoln Park Academy Middle School and High School students participate in the the 36th Annual STEM Fair competition! Representing Middle School are Alexander Derrico, Mia Derrico, Gianna Pizzarello, Mason Ricksecker (6th), Autumn Avilla, Elizabeth Cadosales, Anna Keshtmand, Carmelle Wallace, Amani Webb (7th), and Nash Barcelona (8th). Representing High School are Lucas Huang, Caitlin Deane, Sydney Daniel, David Geraghty, Jesus Rivera Nieves, Maria Nolasco, Lillian O’Neill, Kayla Miller (9th), Victoria Louidor, Jevahiah Septembre, and Alexandria Simpson (11th).
Ms. White’s students are learning about the major common characteristics of all planets, and they are comparing/contrasting the properties of the inner and outer planets. The students completed a graphic organizer, writing task, and an art project to demonstrate their learning. GO LEOPARDS!
FPC’s Ms. Alanis, Ms. Mazzo, and Senior Class Assistant Principal Mrs. Armada hosted FAFSA night Part 2 on February 1st. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid Part 2 at FPC was a success! IRSC’s Financial Aid counselors joined Cobra counselors to workshop with two rooms of Cobra families navigating the online financial aid application process. Additional workshops around St. Lucie County are available to further support and assist parents and families.
From February 17th to February 20th, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion participated in the JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp in Tequesta, FL. The first day at camp, our cadets participated in rappelling down a 40-foot tower and then were separated into their respective companies, where they got to know their fellow cadets from other schools. The second day cadets woke up bright and early to participate in a land navigation course as well as a demonstration on how to carry one another on a stretcher and how to conduct CPR in case of emergencies. The Big Red Buses Visited Cobra Nation The Fort Pierce Medical Academy, OneBlood, and Mrs. Barbara Charles would like to thank the heroes who boarded the Big Red Buses to save lives on Thursday, February 1! Over 200 units of whole blood and many apheresis procedures (removing plasma and/or Red Blood Cells) were collected.
