On Thursday, October 26, the Jaguar cadets took a trip to Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) to expand their knowledge of senior ROTC and the college admission process. With a few guest speakers from the admissions office, ROTC and a US Army Officer; the Jaguar cadets have learned valuable information about how their future should go.

On Wednesday, October 18th at Port St. Lucie High, the Senior Class of 2018 came together to commemorate their last year as seniors in a senior pinning ceremony. At this year’s ceremony, the graduating class broke the record for having the auditorium brimming with students and supportive parents. St. Lucie County’s Sheriff was the honored guest speaker for this event, and the Jaguar Color guard presented the colors for the Senior Class of 2018.

On Saturday, October 14, the Jaguar Battalion hosted a practice meet for the Area 3 Regional competition. With Westwood and Central also participating, the Jaguars still dominated the competition. Although it was the first competition experience of the season, all teams put in their hard work. The Raiders will compete next Saturday at South Fork for the first Raider meet before Area 3.

The Port St. Lucie Civic Center hosted the annual College Fair to inform all students and parents about colleges and universities to prepare them for the future. The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar JROTC volunteered to help the colleges, universities, and community supporters set up and prepare for the the event.

On Monday October 9th, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguars went up against the Space Coast Vipers. To kick off the game, the Jaguar Color Guard presented the Colors with Damilola Jolugan and Joleen Kalonaski serving as flag bearers and Hayley Pollard and Marco Narder serving as guards.

Stephen Siller: Tunnel to Towers Run The Tunnel to Towers run is an event created two years after the occurrence of 9/11. The event symbolizes Stephen Siller’s final footsteps running in full firefighting gear from the foot of the Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. It pays homage to the 343 FDNY firefighters, 71 law enforcement officers, and thousands of civilians who lost their lives on the ill-fated day of September 11, 2001. After the Jaguars take the win on Tuesday, September 19, with a score of 23-14 against the John Carroll Rams, they play again on September 22 against the Okeechobee Brahman Bulls. The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Color Guard (c/MAJ Tesa May  and c/ MSG Hayley Pollard as the flag bearers and c/CPT Morgan Emerson and c/SFC Dominic Casianio as the guards) start the game with the presentation of colors.

After the break from school, the Port St. Lucie Jaguars start off strong with their first varsity home game against the John Carroll Rams on Tuesday, September 19. The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Color Guard starts the game off by presenting the colors: c/ MAJ Tesa May, c/ CPT Allison Wilhoit c/SFC Dominic Casianio , and c/ SSG Andre Hannon show their school and nation pride by respectfully displaying the colors.

On Sunday August 20, 2017, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Commander cadet Lieutenant Colonel Travis Cetin supported William at his 13th birthday party at Superplay USA. William is on the autism spectrum, and he has experienced bullying. For his birthday, all William wanted was for his friends to show up to his party. To his surprise, over 1,000 people showed up to celebrate his birthday. On August 12, 2017, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Color Guard presented the colors to a group of 32 wounded veterans. The Jaguar color guard marched to welcome and honor the wounded veterans on the 6th Annual Wounded Warrior Surf Day Project, a day marked to enjoy surfing at the Fort Pierce Inlet State Park.

Jaguar Battalion Field Day   Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their own field day on May 6, 2017. The JROTC unit uses field day as a way to reward the cadets for their hard work and achievements, as well as, to use the teamwork and leadership skills they learned in the program. The Change of Command Ceremony is a ceremony to pass the command from the current Battalion Commander to the incoming Battalion Commander. Flag Retirement Ceremony 2017 By: Sarai Narvaez The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion held its annual Service Learning event, a U.S. Flag Retirement ceremony, at the school.  The Jaguars retired unserviceable American Flags in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.  The Jaguars’ Band took part in the ceremony playing Taps, reveille, retreat, and the National Anthem. Area Three Drill Meet 2017 By: Sarai Narvaez The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Drill Team hosted the 23rd Annual Area Three Drill Meet. The Best School Overall was determined by the combined scores of the male and female drill teams.  The Jaguar Battalion Drill Team competed against 18 other schools and earned first place overall. This ceremony awards cadets for their outstanding excellence both inside and outside of the program. Jaguars First 2017 Drill Meet at Jupiter Community High School By: Sarai Narvaez The Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Drill Team competed in Jupiter Community High School’s Drill Competition against nine other schools on February 11th. The competition consisted of Armed Squad, Unarmed Squad, Armed Platoon, Unarmed Platoon, and Color Guard.  The Jaguars did incredibly well for their first competition. This night is dedicated to a long line of military time honored traditions.
