Black Talon Earns High Rankings at State Drill Competition

Congratulations to the Black Talon Drill Competition Team of SLW Centennial! The unit earned a spot and competed in the Lake Howell Area 11/12 NJROTC Florida State Drill competition in Winter Park, Florida.  They competed against 20 other Navy JROTC units. The cadets showcased their exceptional skills and dedication, which led them to win 5th place in the Armed Exhibition Drill and 3rd place in Team Push-Ups. Lakewood Park Elementary Celebrates Special Olympics Awareness Day

On Wednesday, March 5, Lakewood Park Elementary School came together to celebrate Special Olympics Awareness Day. The event aimed to promote understanding, respect, and inclusion of individuals with disabilities.  In preparation for the celebration, the media center hosted a special presentation focused on teaching students and staff about disabilities, and the importance of treating everyone with respect and dignity.  To show their support, students and staff wore red, white, and blue, the signature colors of the Special Olympics. The St. Lucie West Centennial High School wrestling team, led by Head Coach Troy Surloff, and the girls’ wrestling team, coached by Jacob Pryor, took on tough competition at the District tournament—emerging with multiple standout performances and several athletes advancing to Regionals. Palm Pointe Navigates 1st Place Win at the Fair

Palm Pointe is Navigating the Future with space travel at the St. Lucie County Fair. Congratulations to PPE on their first-place win at the SLC Fair School Display for the judge’s choice! Lincoln Park Academy Partners with Treasure Coast Safe Kids  

 Mrs. Longo’s HOPE classes partnered with the HOSA club in the Battle of the Belts challenge. The group surveyed student and parent drivers to see who was wearing their seatbelts. Of the 320 cars, 300 people wore their seatbelts and only 20 did not! Great job to those who participated! The HOPE classes also participated in a poster contest sponsored by the Treasure Coast Safe Kids and the Florida Department of Transportation. Northport Students Are Taking Control

Robotics students in Mr. Fess’ Northstars STEM class created their first remote controlled robots this week. Students designed, built and coded robots to navigate an obstacle course in the robotics arena. Groups raced to navigate the course in the fastest time. These students recently took a break from robotics to complete an industry certification course in Artificial Intelligence. While they enjoyed their A.I. unit, Mr. Fess says his students are glad to be back to the hands-on projects of their robotics curriculum. Savanna Ridge Elementary’s 3rd grade math teacher, Mrs. Sanchez, took her classes outdoors to enjoy a beautiful day, while working on a math measurement lesson. Mrs. Sanchez and Mrs. Joseph facilitated the lesson, while students worked together gathering data and analyzing their results. Mrs. Jason’s 8th grade students engaged in a friendly competition with their peers for their IXL performance. All students are provided an opportunity to complete IXL lessons in their Language Arts class. Our 8th grade Social Studies teachers support our ELA classes by providing additional time for students to engage in IXL lessons for ELA. Ms. Jason’s 3rd period class won the IXL challenge.
