On September 11, 2014 in the Port St. Lucie High School Auditorium, Deputy Rosario gave a very powerful lecture on his personal experiences on that dreadful day in New York when the Twin Towers toppled to the ground.  The presentation began with a student who sang God Bless America and led in the Pledge of Allegience. Port St. Lucie High School students attended a ceremony during third period on September 11, 2018, to recognize and recollect the tragedy that happened on September 11, 2001. The ceremony began with the Presentation of Colors by the Jaguar Battalion’s Color Guard commanded by Cadet Captain Brianna Harris, accompanied by Cadet Sergeant Justin Locklar as state flag, Cadet Sergeant Alexis Morris as national guard and Cadet Sergeant Shane Canady as state guard. 8th-Grade Students from Oak Hammock K8 Attends Gradventure

Oak Hammock’s 8th-grade students enjoyed a fun-filled night at the theme park. They had an opportunity to enjoy peers and teachers outside of the school and classroom setting. This was a memorable night for students. For some students, this was the first time that they had visited a theme park. A good time was had by all who attended.    

8th-Grade Strengthen Skills Through Focused Math Practice at Forest Grove Middle School

During the recent 8th‑grade math classroom visits at Forest Grove Middle School, students were actively engaged in independent practice designed to deepen their understanding of key mathematical concepts. Although each classroom had its own instructional approach, several important elements were consistent across all observations. Teachers provided clear explanations, monitored student progress, and offered targeted support to ensure that every learner had the opportunity to succeed. 8th grade MOA students planted slash pine seedlings for the Moore’s Creek, Wesley Island restoration project. They will continue taking care of them until they are large enough to transplant where they are needed! What a great way to support our local waterways and learn proper growth care of plants! Cobras sign seven for college football

Seven Fort Pierce Central High School football players signed letters of intent on National Signing Day to play football. Centennial HOSA members join others at leadership camp

Members of several St. Lucie County high school HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) organizations attended a leadership conference in the beautiful facility of Camp Kulaqua in High Springs, Florida, accompanied by their teachers. The Leadership Development Camp, or LDC, was definitely worth it all. St. Lucie West Centennial HOSA officers left for that weekend in hopes of learning skills to become more effective leaders, and that goal was accomplished. To celebrate the grand opening of their newest store on Orange Avenue in Ft. Pierce, community partner 7-Eleven gifted a generous donation of $711 to C.A. Moore Elementary. 6th Grade Title 1 Family Engagement Night

The 6th Grade Eagles and Falcons Teams invited parents to take a tour of their student’s classrooms to experience their child’s daily experience in class. Parents were informed of the core subject schedule as they learned of the student curriculum, expectations, and credits, and were able to sign up for future conferences. The guidance counselor gave an overview of how to access student information in Skyward and how the breakdown of assignments calculates the overall grade. 6th Grade Eagles at Oak Hammock K-8 Learn About Veterans for Veterans Day

Two of Oak Hammock’s K-8 6th grade teachers joined together to teach their students about Veterans Day. Mr. Sherrer, Social Studies, and Ms. Campbell, Language Arts, spent the week before Veterans Day teaching students about the importance of the holiday. Students also learned about the sacrifices members of our armed forces made to guarantee their freedoms as Americans. The students were given an opportunity to create summaries of biographies in Language Arts and expressed their new knowledge through art in Social Studies.

6th Annual K. Pearson Oceanside Cleanup Brings Unity

On a breezy Saturday morning, the Fort Pierce community came alive with a shared purpose. Over 70 Fort Pierce Central High School students, accompanied by an LPA student, gathered at the Manatee Center for the beloved tradition of the Kimberly Pearson Memorial Oceanside Cleanup. The students in Ms. Jacob’s 5th Grade class explored decimal multiplication by solving problems multiplying decimal numbers and whole numbers. Using place value blocks, visual models, and whiteboards, students applied place value strategies to multiply decimals by one-hundredth, deepening their understanding of NSO.2.5 (Multiply a multi-digit number with decimals to the tenths by one-tenth using place value strategies and models. Students in Mrs. Saunders’ 5th grade at FPMSA researched, prepared, and presented projects on Pre-Columbian North Americans. Students created posters or dioramas to display the information they acquired. Classmates learned from each other and learned from the past. Realizing how landscape, climate, and resources shaped the customs and homes was evident in their work.

5th Graders at Bayshore Elementary Explore Sugar Dissolution

Bayshore Elementary’s 5th graders recently conducted a fascinating science experiment to explore how different factors affected the rate at which sugar dissolved in a solution. They examined the impact of temperature, stirring, surface area, and particle size. By changing these variables, students observed how quickly sugar dissolved under various conditions. This hands-on experiment not only enhanced their understanding of scientific principles but also encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 5th Graders at APF Make STEAM

Fifth grade students, Jaden Finch, Levi Jackson and Liliana Rivera, worked together as a group to complete their STEAM design challenge. Their goal was to create a water slide that was tall and safe by bringing a marble to the bottom and landing in a cup. In this design challenge the students incorporated their knowledge of force, motion, friction, building, measuring and creating prototypes!

5th Grade WBE Mariners Conquer Challenge!

Ms. Burton’s and Ms. Barberi’s 5th grade social studies students were given a challenge to conquer over winter break! If upon their return, they could write down all 50 states and capitals without assistance, they would receive 50 Mariner Dollars. Furthermore, they could use 25 of those Mariner Dollars for a kid’s lunch at Wendy’s.  Jordan Muldrow and Ever Cabrera were able to complete the mission! Congratulations,  gentlemen, on a job well done!
