Army Ranger Dedicated Jump #53 to Northport Children!

Second Lieutenant, Army Ranger, Xiovani Guanill dedicated his 53rd parachute jump to NPK* students. Xiovani attended school at Northport and graduated from our Landsharks team. He was just a regular funny kid with a sarcastic and witty sense of humor. Xiovani Guanill wanted in some way to make his parents proud because he grew up with his mom in a wheelchair. Army Gives Treasure Coast High School JROTC Experience

On November 9th, the Army recruiters from St. Lucie County brought an armed transport and a flight simulator to Treasure Coast High School. They let our JROTC cadets and some onlooking fellow students fly a helicopter on the simulator and explore the armed car in the front seat, passenger seat, back seat, and the gun mount. They explained each part of the truck and opened their eyes to some experiences they may get from joining the Army. Arbor Day at Mariposa Elementary provides trees for students

In celebration of Arbor Day, Mariposa Elementary School fourth graders were foresters for a day. The students were able to plant the state tree, Sabal Palm,  around the school grounds in hopes to bring awareness of the importance of plants and trees in our environment.  At the end of the day, each student was able to take home a Sabal Palm of their very own to plant in their yards.

AR/VR Welding at Port St Lucie High School

Bruce Gardner, the Building Construction teacher at Port St Lucie High, is demonstrating welding to his students with the Miller AugmentedArc VR/AR welding kit. For beginner to advanced-level welding students, the AugmentedArc system simulates multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG and Stick), blending real-world and computer-generated images into a unique, augmented reality environment.

AquaTree Gardens in the Middle Schools

Teachers and students at Manatee Academy, Chester A Moore, Southern Oaks Middle, Northport K-8, and St. Lucie West K8 received their new AquaTree Gardens (the first of it’s kind to be used in Florida schools) using hydroponic technology to grow different types of Microgreens, Proteins, Herbs, and Lefty Greens. The students had the opportunity before the end of the school year to disperse the seeds into the trays and observe the growth of microgreens over a period of a week. April Recognized As Autism Awareness Month

A presentation was given by Mr. Bill Tomlinson, Executive Director for Student Services & ESE, at the school board meeting on April 28th recognizing April as Autism Awareness Month. He thanked Mr. Robert Cranmer and his staff for organizing the walk for Autism Speaks with such a great success. Apply Today for Meal Benefits

All students, regardless of which school they attend, must submit a new meal application for the 20/21 school year. Students will no longer be automatically approved for meals at no cost. Now is the time to apply for the 2020/2021 free and reduce meal benefit. This must be completed prior to August 24th so that an updated meal status is on file. The application can be found at https://foodservice.stlucie.k12.fl.us/. Only one meal application needs to be completed per family. Applebee’s Above and “Bee”yond Winner!

In the Applebee’s Above and “Bee”yond contest, Nikayia wrote an essay about Mrs. DeVries and how she deserves to win this award. Nikayia’s essay was chosen and Mrs. DeVries was the St. Lucie County Applebee’s Above and Beyond winner! She will receive $500 to spend in her classroom for the 2019-2020 school year. APF Students Love Santas Pancake Breakfast

​The K-2 Elementary Chorus performed on Saturday, December 6th at the Santa Pancake Breakfast. Students sang a variety of songs from Feliz Navidad to Let it Go. The APF Chorus wowed the audience with their stellar movements and beautiful singing. The 3-5 Advanced Chorus performed as well including an original holiday song to the music of “Royals” by Lorde. Both groups worked extremely hard and their dedication showed in their amazing performance.
