Another Victory for PSL JROTC

Another Victory for Port St. Lucie High School JROTC On Saturday, February 10th, the Port Saint Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion competed against 8 other schools in a Drill competition held at Jupiter High School in Jupiter, Florida. The events our Female and Male Teams competed in were Unarmed/Armed Squad, Color Guard, and Solo/Duo Exhibition drill. PSL placed 1st in Female Armed and Unarmed Squad, 1st in Female Color Guard, 1st in Female Solo Exhibition, and 1st in Female Dual Exhibition. Another successful Sunrise Stampede in Fort Pierce

F.K. Sweet Elementary teachers Michelle O’Keefe, Morgan Haupt, and Kristin Griffin are all smiles as they prepare to hand out ribbons to the winners of the annual Sunrise Stampede 5K Run/Walk, held recently in Ft. Pierce. The Sunrise Stampede is a cancer awareness and fund raising event that involves community members, and is sponsored by the school and other contributors.

Another Successful Summer Program for our English Learners! 

Mission Graduation for English Learners summer program was held this year in Southern Oaks Middle. Incoming 6th through 12th recently arrived English Learners were engaged in English learning classes, grade level Math, English, and Civics. Students were given opportunities to develop entrepreneurship through a Graphic Design course where students created different products, a logo, and a vision for their future businesses. Students developed friendships and partnerships while they participated in different sporting events and activities. It was a great program! Students and staff said this was the highlight of their summer.  

Another Hike, Another Adventure at Rivers Edge

Mrs. Slappey’s Wilderness Club from Rivers Edge Elementary embarked on another trail expedition, uncovering some of nature’s hidden gems. The students were thrilled to discover an opossum jaw bone, a snake skin, and some enchanting lichen along the way. The experience was nothing short of magical, sparking curiosity and wonder among the budding naturalists. Founded in 2017 by Mrs. Slappey, the Wilderness Club has been a cornerstone of hands-on learning at Rivers Edge Elementary. Annual parade highlights MLK events

Newly seated St. Lucie County Commissioner Kim Johnson and wife Sharita Johnson were entertaining masters of ceremony for the annual parade on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on 25th Street in Fort Pierce. The parade highlighted a 10-day celebration, which included a spelling bee, oratory contest, and candlelight parade. Schools, community groups, fraternal organizaitons and local businesses paraded down 25th Street displaying their renditions of the year’s theme, “Reach Beyond the Dream.”

Annual Kickin’ It 5K Run/Walk

Please see the attached flier for the annual Kickin’ It 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Andrew Schmeer Foundation. The Andrew Schmeer Foundation honors the memory of Andrew Schmeer who, on September 8, 2014, was tragically killed in a car accident. Funds raised help to recognize well-rounded students along the Treasure Coast by providing college scholarships for those in need. We also raise funds for animal rescues as well as children’s charities. Proceeds from this event will benefit our scholarship program and families in need. Andrew Flier PDF

Annual High School Art Show This Friday

FORT PIERCE, FL – The annual St. Lucie County High School Art Show opens Friday, April 20, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  This years’ show takes place in the Galleria of Pierce Harbor Building located at 100 S. 2nd St. in Ft. Pierce. The fourth annual Family Reading Festival, sponsored by the St. Lucie County Reading Council, welcomed many guest readers to Mets Stadium field with a wide variety of literacy special events. Annual Empty Bowls Project Stamps out Hunger

On Saturday, March 14, the Saturday Morning Farmers Market was filled with more than fresh produce and local goods—it became a gathering place for compassion and community during the annual Empty Bowls event benefiting the Treasure Coast Food Bank. Through a meaningful partnership with St. Lucie County Schools, this year’s event raised nearly $14,000 to support local hunger‑relief efforts. Annual bus drivers breakfast held at Palm Pointe

The bus drivers that service Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition were recognized for all that they do for our students at a recent breakfast. Volunteer and PTO member Pam Molner made a spectacular breakfast for everyone with eggs, bacon, sausage, crepes with fresh strawberries, home fries, fruit cups and other scrumptious food.  A PowerPoint presentation by Dean Estrada and Dean Pierre focused on bus data for the last few years, safety, student conduct and positive reinforcement. It was a great opportunity to visit and get to know the bus drivers that come to Palm Pointe.

Annual Breakfast with Santa Celebrated at Palm Pointe

On December 3, 2016, Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition celebrated its annual Breakfast with Santa.  The event was a huge success with families enjoying a delicious pancake breakfast, kids making holiday crafts, a face painting booth, raffles, pictures with Santa, and holiday songs performed by Mrs. Melanie Larsen and Mrs. Deborrah Estrada. It was a great time to relax with Palm Pointe families and staff at the beginning of the holiday season.  Pictured are Mrs. Luv Lima and her two sons, seventh grader Marcos Lima, fifth grader Rio Lima, and  many other families in the background.

It is only the first quarter of the year, and already so may wonderful musical events and accomplishments have occurred for students and staff in St. Lucie Public Schools! Let’s sing the good news from the roof tops! Treasure Coast High School and Port St. Lucie High School have brought back Choir to their campuses. President of the Education Foundation, St. Lucie County Thom Jones presented a check to the St. Lucie School Board for $72,000.  This check represents the generous grant awards provided by the Foundation’s Board of Director’s for educational programs in St. Lucie Public Schools. An “Excellent” Performance By Southport Middle School Band

Under the direction of Band Director Jim Lebon, students from the Southport Middle School Band recently performed at the Florida Bandmasters Association District 13 Concert Music Performance Assessment, a yearly festival that is judged by well-known professionals from our state.  The festival was held at Treasure Coast High School.  The band prepared three pieces for stage performance: Enterprise March, Theme and Variations, and Sea Song Fantasy. An Evening of Connecting at Village Green Environmental Studies School

To celebrate National Kids at Hope Day on Wednesday, November 12th, Village Green Environmental Studies School invited parents and students for a night of connecting. The event kicked off with our SAC meeting at 3:40.  We encouraged more parents to join our SAC so they can become even more involved with our school.
